I bought this rail to take stereoscopic 3D photos, so I'm using it kind of "sideways" to how a focus rail is typically used. For my needs, it's been great. It has solid construction, all the hardware I needed (besides a tripod and camera) and doesn't take up much room in my camera bag. It has handy markings for distances and clamps down securely. It is Arca-Swiss mount, which is great for compatibility with other accessories, and comes with mounting plates included. I haven't tried other rails, and I'm sure there are nicer ones out there, but for the money and for what I use it for it's great.

Very nicely machined and finished rail. Dual Arca-compatible dovetails fit all of my clamps perfectly. If you need a 9-1/2" nodal rail I'm sure you'd be very pleased with this one. I certainly am.

While it is intended to be mounted to a tripod, I mounted it to a dovetail rail on a telescope to allow mounting a camera piggyback so the telescope can guide the camera allowing for extreme long exposure shots of the Milky Way without star trails. It is sturdy enough to support a 600mm lens, and grips tight enough to hold the camera/lens at any angle.

This macro rail slides easily, but locks when you want it to be stationary. I do manual focus stacking with it, but the rack and pinion type rails are incrementally too fine - takes forever to screw them to the next stopping point. So, this rail is perfect . . . for me. I just scoot it along to each step. If you're expecting something fancy - this is very basic, but very sturdy. The Arca-Swiss type bracket is also very well made and locks positively.

I am using this in a covered Lexan housing on a tripod. My DSLR with battery pack is 2.7lbs. I have an aluminum plate with a timer and LIFEPO4 battery mounted to the plate. So all in all, it is holding about 12lbs. I wanted something I could use to counterbalance the weight and this works great. Very sturdy.

This works perfect for getting closer to your subject while using a tripod which isn't always easy. Easy to use and does what it needs too.

Brilliant little gadget I've been using it for a little wile now,and im impressed,once you've sussed it ,it helps a lot when doing macro slightest little nock will spoil your pics but you tend to be more careful when using this slider,yer it's good solid quality one your used to it it's been worth the money good thing to have if u like macro photography deffo recommend

Comprei porque precisava de uma base para macro fotografia. No entanto os ajustes pequenos para fazer focus stacking são impossíveis porque não tem como fazer estes. Ao soltar é extremamente difícil fazer alterações com precisão. De resto o material é bom e a construção não é má. Acabei por ter que investir quase o triplo numa boa base.
