I love these combs for use with my beard. I have a pretty tight curl in my beard that's maybe medium-to-long in length, and this is the perfect comb for balancing shaping and detangling. If your hair is less curly, you may need a narrower tooth model. I have a few of these for home/travel and have used them for 2-9 years each, with no breaks or quality issues.

This comb is perfect in every way. The size is comfortable to work with; its ability to detangle hair is a plus. I love the quality of Kent products. I have a few Kent combs and my wife started coveting them to the extent that I bought her this larger one for Christmas. It's really a great comb. As the teeth in it are sawcut, there are some abrasive surfaces which i find (particularly in this large comb) are great for smoothening out my ends (My hair is actually longer than hers- I struggle to avoid sitting on it.) This has, in turn, caused ME to covet this comb a bit. The teeth are quite deep. It believe it's made out of celluloid, which just adds to its old world charm. I should mention that I have broken a couple of smaller kents just forcing them- one broke in my wallet crammed into my back pocket. Where other combs (ace rubber combs for example) might just bend or break teeth, these have a way of splitting right in half if you apply too much pressure. But we're all adults here. Just don't do that. It's not good for one's hair anyway.

This is a nice comb. It works well for detangling my hair after washing it, and doesn't scratch my scalp. The teeth are wide enough apart without being too far apart to be effective. I have long, thick hair that is prone to tangling and this helps to prevent breakage.

Update: I was wrong - it does pull tangled hair as much as the basic black plastic one. I don’t know if it’s the material or, more likely the hand cut and polishing allows it to glide through hair. Whatever the reason it works, and looks nicer than the black plastic one it replaced, I got this mainly to see if it works through tangles more easily than the plastic one I have been using - and the answer is - probably not or maybe, your choice. It’s certainly a nicer looking comb than plastic. I am fond of Kent hairbrushes and thought I would love this as much, I do find myself admiring how it looks compared to the black plastic one, so I would give it a slight nod.
