Precise and Handy Little Ruler
Precise and Handy Little Ruler This 6-inch stainless steel ruler has turned into one of those small tools I find myself reaching for constantly. The build is solid—made from stainless steel with clear etched markings that don’t wear off with use. Both inch and metric measurements are easy to read, and the fine graduations make it great for quick, accurate work, especially when I don’t want to drag out a larger tape measure. Its slim and lightweight design means I can slip it into a shirt pocket or a small toolbox without even noticing it’s there. I’ve used it for everything from marking wood cuts to double-checking small hardware dimensions, and it hasn’t disappointed. The flexibility is just right—not flimsy, but it gives enough bend to measure against curved surfaces if needed. If I had to nitpick, the 6-inch length limits it to small-scale work, but that’s exactly what it’s designed for. I wouldn’t expect it to replace a longer rule or tape measure, but for precision tasks and quick checks, it’s spot-on. Bottom line: A simple, reliable, and very useful pocket ruler that earns its keep in any toolbox, craft kit, or desk drawer.

A Quality General Product
I have used General Tools and Instruments for many years. Their steel rules are made in the USA and represent an excellent value. The six-inch pocket rule is excellent for technical work with both 1/32 and 1/64 inch graduations. The pocket clip doubles as a stop for depth measurements. Its small size makes it easy to carry in a pocket or store in a desk drawer or tool bag.

Accurate tool
The build quality is done well. Shows all increments accurately and the design is perfect to keep in my pocket. Good purchase to have backups just in case you need it.

The clip seems fragile, and falls off when I actually pull it out of the pocket.
The clip needs to be completely redesigned.., it NEEDS to be bent back and forth over and over again to be tight enough to hold onto the lip of a pocket, and then again to come off, and then AGAIN to not fall off. It's a garbage design. The rule itself is fantastic and very small and thin as you'd expect. It's about two no.2 pencils in width.

It's very handy...and makes an accurate depth gauge, too.

Great measuring stick
Good very good works well as a great depth gauge for checttop dead center of piston while setting valve lash adjustment on small engines

Durable pocket steel ruler
There are lots of things I need to measure precisely where a 25 ft tape measure or even a foot-long ruler is overkill. I keep a metal machinist ruler like this in every toolbox for taking critical measurements in small places. This is well made and a bargain at the price I paid. I bought two so I could place them at 90 degrees to show height & width for a macro photography project to document my wife’s jewelry collection.

QA Problem?
I loved my old American-made version of this ruler, so when I temporarily lost it, I was excited to see that I can get a replacement here. Unfortunately the replacement was made carelessly - it seems to have been stamped backwards - so that the measurements start on the curved end. This isn't nearly as useful as my old original ruler (which I have since recovered, with much relief). See attached image - top example is the poorly made version, bottom is the two-decade old original. I'm not sure if this is a regular problem with this item, vs just a one-time goof at the factory. Still giving it 3 stars because I loved my old one so much. I hope your new one is better.
