Q: How strong is the resistance? Is there a really challenging level??

There are 10 levels of resistance and I usually have it set to level 5. I am a 57 year old man in pretty good shape. I row for about 20 minutes and get a really nice workout. Unless you are a body builder this machine is more than sufficient. Its very quiet and smooth and uses a belt instead of a chain. Not a lot of bells and whistles but definitely all you need to track your distance, time, calories and strokes.

Q: Will this hold a 310lb man?

The weight limit is 265, because it is light weight, pushing it to over 300 would be too risky. It may not slide properly and could buckle faster with time.

Q: Is there any way to increase the resistance on the sliding part? I feel like this mostly works the upper body since the seat slides so easily

You can use an elastic band. Wrap it around the main console and then around your waist. The resistance will depend on the type of elastic band.
