Fun (even for people who aren’t big into board games)
This is a fun and easy to play game. My family members who aren’t very big into board games seem to like it quite a bit too.

Fun, creative, family ejoyed it
Dixit is easy to learn, easy for all ages to play, but allows for creativity. While it is a skill based game in that the element of chance is not important, it is not a strategy game, making it work for a wide range of ages to play together. We've only played a couple of times with our family, but it seems the sort of game that would be a different experience with each group you play with. To play, players take turns providing a word or sentence or story or quote or... ? that they think describes one of their cards. The other players lay down a card they think matches, a vote is taken, and players move around the board based on a point system. To gain points, the storyteller needs some but not all players to choose their card, so there is an art to being descriptively vague. If we are going to play often, we'll probably want to buy the expansion pack, as the cards become familiar. I should mention, the art on the cards is beautiful, almost worth the buying the game for on its own.

Lots of fun for ages 7 to 70 (at least)
Dixit was one of several bestselling, well-reviewed games we purchased for an extended family vacation over the holidays this year. This game was by far the most fun and creative and the easiest to learn. Boys and girls and their elders liked the playtime (about 30-40 min) and the nicely crafted and artsy cards. We played that the person giving the clues could use a sound, a sentence, an expression or charade, and we had good results. It is best played with 5 or 6 people, but OK with 3 or 4. It probably would not be successful played repeatedly with the same people over a short period of time, b/c the memory factor might confound scoring. Still, there are quite a lot of choices, and I can see us playing this for many years. We'll get the expansion pack as well (Dixit II).

Super cute board game
This game is adorable and very fun. It is casual and ideal for people who just want to play something quick without a whole lot of rules. I haven't personally played it with any children but I can definitely see it as a child-friendly game. You really only need to be able to describe a picture on a card in vague terms. I highly recommend this game if you're just looking for something quick and fun to play. The board is basically just a point counter so if you lose it you don't have to panic, all you really need is some paper to keep track of score (if you even want to go that far). Really all you need is the deck to play, but the pieces are cute little bunnies so I always use them. It's hard to describe the cards. They are all very odd and dream-like (as in a scene that is bizarre enough to be in a dream). They have enough interesting things going on in them that quite often during play someone will stop the game to get a closer look at one of the cards just played.

Great twist on clue-giving games
This is simply a great game. The play is incredibly easy to learn and there is almost no setup time. All players get a few cards and they take turns giving clues. On your turn, you give a clue to one of your cards that is neither too specific nor too vague. Once you give a clue, the other players pick a card from their hand that they think most closely fits your clue. You take all the cards, shuffle them up, and then lay them face down on the table. A player gets points whenever someone picks their card. The only exception is if you are the clue-giver and everyone picks your card, in which case you get zero points. That's why you want your clue to be good, but not perfect. The fun and the difficulty lie in figuring out the perfect clue for each card and that will change every time you play. Some kind of timing device would be useful, though there's not one included in the game. Last note, the current Amazon price for this game is $75 from an external site. Though it is a great game, that's way too much to pay. I bought it from Amazon a few months ago at 1/3 that price. It may be high priced because it's sold out. If that's the case, let's hope the game gets a reprinting because it would be a shame if more people weren't able to play.

loads of fun for all ages
My friends and I (a bunch late 20s early 30s) love this game. It's easy to play because the rules are simple, and it's designed for all ages. It's more fun if you have more people (3 min./6 max.), and especially if you don't know some of the players very well. Their answers will keep you guessing! The 64 cards that come with this box can run out fairly quickly, or can become very familiar if you play often. So IMO, the extension pack (also sold on Amazon) is a must have. Even with the extension pack, it feels there's not enough cards at times. Also the point tracking system (moving colored rabbits on a windy path) is fun but not the easiest way. I usually keeps the score and I sometimes lose track of where each rabbit should be. Rumor is extension pack 3 and a better point tracking system are coming out, and I can't wait. But all in all, a very fun game. My friends are hooked onto this and asks often when's the next time we are playing it. Highly recommended.

You've played Monopoly, Cluedo and Risk. You may have played Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne. Each of these games are great in their own way and are great for families to play. The latter three games are the least divisive and have many different strategies available to win which make them games you want to play again and again. Dixit is a game unlike any of these games. In fact it is unlike any other game I have ever played before or since. Each time you play the game it becomes both easier and more difficult. It's a very subtle game that pulls on your creative thinking. Trying to work out what phrase (or mime etc.) for a particular picture will spark an equal response from some of your fellow players, but crucially not all, is what makes this game challenging. Too subtle and your friends miss the connection. Too obvious and you are penalised. Please do not to let this put you off. Dixit is a game that has intrigue in every round. Trying to guess the Storyteller's card is not straight forward. Each other player gives in a card that they think best represents the given phrase and they are shuffled before being revealed. With one card per player it can be difficult to distinguish the Storyteller's cards from the charlatans. The most recent time I played there were eight of us, aged between 28 and 60. There were only five takers for the game; the remaining three were seemingly more interested with their mobile phone or tablet devices and let the rest of us play. As soon as the cards were revealed in the first round they downed their electronics and were enthralled by the game. Each of them tried to guess at the Storyteller's card and even helped their partner during the game. Much like other reviewers have said, the scoring is not the most important aspect of this game. I have never once seen an argument playing this game, and I do not expect I will. I have even played with my family who cannot get through a game of Monopoly without at least two people storming off or the board being launched at the nearest wall. Should you buy this game? If you want a game that is relaxing yet though provoking, creative while lacking a need for strategic thought and a game without conflict then this is a great game to buy. There is no game like it so it will not be in direct competition with other titles you may have. The content in the box is more than enough to fully enjoy the game for a long time so there should be no need to add the expansions for a good while yet. I would stress that this is a game best played with either five or six players. A three player game does not have quite the same feel compared to a game with at least five players. I hope this review has been helpful. If you have any comments add them. If you have any questions about the game I am more than happy to answer them as best as I can.
