High quality hose that works great with a trash pump
Our backyard floods really badly whenever we get rains soon after a heavy snowfall, so we got an industrial trash pump to suck out the water quickly without getting clogged up with yard debris (sticks, leaves, mud, mulch, etc.). From the flooding area to the storm drain on the street in front of our house is about 90’ so this 100’ hose was great for getting the water pumped out there. It is high quality and heavy duty material so I can’t imagine it getting a leak as long as you take care of it. The threaded coupling attached very easily to our pump and created a nice seal with no leakage. Storing the hose was fairly easy, although it is rather heavy. Being a lie flat, it rolled up easily into a fairly small diameter (which is how it came packaged). I would not want to have a roll of 2.5” diameter hose at 100’ in length that was not lie flat - that would take up half of my shed! One thing to note - don’t get much longer than you need. Unless the hose is running downhill, it takes more pressure to get the water out the other end the longer it is. We have a slight uphill path to the front yard and once the pump had no more water to suck, the entire hose was still filled with water. Turning off the pump would have let all of the water inside the hose drain back out at the pump site and 100’ of water at 2.5” diameter is (double the radius, multiply by pi, carry the two) a LOT of water. 😅 So I needed to lift the pump, detach the hose (which was nice an easy!) and then walk towards the front lifting the hose to push the water out the other end. If I had only needed to go 60’ or 70’, it would have been even more work (due to getting past the kinks as you get to the bunched up extra length of the lie flat hose), so a 75’ hose would have been a better choice.

Solid Product – Performs Exactly As Needed
This item works great right out of the box. Build quality is solid, and it does exactly what it’s designed to do — no fuss, no problems. The installation and setup were straightforward, and the performance has been reliable every time I’ve used it. In a market full of cheap, questionable products, this one stands out as dependable. Highly recommended if you want something that just works without hassle.

Does what it's supposed to do, but kinks easily
I use this hose to irrigate wildflower seeds planted on an earthen dam in our neighborhood. I got a late start, missing the autumn rains and was hoping to get some of the Texas Bluebonnet seeds to germinate (which they do in the fall/early winter when it gets colder if there is adequate rain). The pump sends A LOT of water through this hose, and the hose works fine if it is straight. But bend it, curve it, anything but straight and the hose kinks. Fortunately, the water doesn't stop in its entirety, but it does affect the overall flow. I have to turn the pump down and place the pump farther away to maintain as fewest curves/kinks as possible. Also, the threaded male end edges are sharp and gave me an inch long scratch to prove it. I have a fireman's nozzle as well, but it restricts the water even more than the kinks. I think the kinks are just the nature of these types of hoses. There are reinforced hoses for intake (which I have), but they are just too heavy and ridged for lugging around. Something in-between, perhaps a 2" Inch Rubber Covered Fire Hose would be more appropriate, but also more expensive ($273 for 50’ at FireHoseSupply). I guess I’ll just have to deal with the kinks, and I would project the shorter life those cause. I'll update over time if appropriate.

Good hose so far.
So after seeing some reviews and a note from Amazon that this item is frequently returned I decided that I would try it out and cross my fingers. Apart from a small leak at the join it did perform very well despite the kinks which I should have spread the hose out more in the driveway to prevent that as I ordered a 100ft hose and the 50ft to get to the sewer line. ( maybe I just needed the 25ft hose instead of the 50ft) it cleared approximately 1500 gallons of water with a 1 hp pump in 1 hour and 40 minutes. One thing I did find it was hard to empty of water because it would keep twisting and kinking again I probably should have stretched out the hose better, this 50ft hose did end up with some light scratches on it from the driveway which surprised me considering the the description on the page. I am hopeful that it won’t create a leak but the only way to test it is to submerge my pump again with just the 50ft pipe to test but that’s a lot of work. I’m hoping not to have to drain the pool again in a hurry. Overall I’d give it 5 stars but I gave it a 4 stars because it’s scratched easily.

better than average quality
This hose is definitely better/more reinforced than the flimsy hoses you see in many stores. the fittings are also solid. I got it to use with a 3500gph submersible pump for my pool if it is flooding. I did have the need to use once since we moved into our new home and it worked like a champ to drain the pool a bit. I have seen much higher grade backwash hoses but for much more money. This one should last quite a while. Bang for the buck it's a great deal.

Not for use when bends are required in it.
The 1.15 inch hose looks to be good quality and the male and female connectors screw into each other nicely. The female brass connector screwed nicely into my ¼ HP pump. There is a significant chemical smell to the hose, but I don’t think that’s an issue for most people. My biggest issue relates to the bends. If you have even a 45 degree bend it stops the water, I didn’t expect that. And, my pump is actually fairly powerful and it would fill up the hose to the point that the hose would get under pressure, which caused it to become very rigid, i.e. difficult to work with. However, even though it was rigid to a point, it didn’t “undo” the bend, that still remained. I’m returning the hose because of this. I need to be able to have it not be a straight line. If you are after a hose that can be put straight out into a discharge area, then you are fine and this one is great, otherwise, look for a different TYPE of hose. A black plastic one would be less susceptible to kinking but is also much harder to store.

The first hose we received was leaking, however the second one had no issues. This is a great hose for our use, which is for closing our pool. Attached with no issues to the pump and worked very well. Happy with this hose.
