Minka-Aire F896-65-CL Xtreme H2O 65 Inch Outdoor Ceiling Fan with DC Motor in Coal Finish

I had been looking at fans for my finished garage, which also houses a therapy pool. The humidity can get pretty high, so I needed a quality outdoor rated unit. I was budgeting $300, but I heard such good things about this fan that I decided to up the budget to get it. I’m so glad I did. It’s a beautiful looking fan, the install was spot on and pretty simple. Took me about 45-60 mins. I branched off my garage opener outlet for power and the remote worked perfectly. I didn’t have to mess around with any balancing, it is whisper quite, it barely using any power and it really moves some air. You really get what you pay for.

This is a HUGE fan that we've installed in our "great room" with a 14-foot ceiling. It's a gorgeous appliance, even if it sometimes looks like a giant propeller that could lift the roof. It doesn't do that at all. Instead, it's incredibly quiet, even at high speeds, and it circulates air without creating mini wind tunnels. In the winter, we spin it in one direction to circulate heat throughout the room; in the summer, we spin it in the other direction to better distribute A/C and cool the place down. Perfect.

We love our fans. We purchased them for the back porch. They look great and work great. My cousin is an electrician so we had him install them. We've had them for over a year now and have no complaints. They're still working great! If you like the look of that more expensive brand but just can't justify spending that money, get this fan. You won't be disappointed.

I haven't had this fan installed long but my first impressions are that it is a really solid outdoor fan and worth the money. Its very quiet, was perfectly balanced out of the box and it moves a lot of air on its highest setting. Plenty for my 10' x 17' patio area. The only part I don't like is how everything is controlled from the remote. The fan only has black (hot), white (neutral) and green (ground) wires, nothing switched. Where I was installing it, my house has black, white, ground and red (switched). If you follow the fan's instructions and match colors, then the red wire isn't used and the wall switch does not do anything. You have to use the remote to turn the fan on or off. However, I found that if I wire the fan's white and ground to the home's white and ground respectively but wire the fan's black wire to my house's red wire instead of my house's black wire (and cap my house's black wire), then the fan will come on and off with the wall switch and most importantly, the fan will remember the setting it was previously on. Since I live in Florida, I expect to have it on high almost all the time when I'm using it, so now the wall switch will work for me on its own 99% of the time and I won't have to bother with the remote. This wiring may be pretty basic knowledge for a lot of people out there, but it wasn't intuitive to me so I figured I would put it out there in case it helps someone else. Now that I have it wired the way I like it, I think it will be a great outdoor fan.

The fan arrived well, and the installation went well (no complications). The fan operated well, was nice looking, and had great airflow- this means at the highest speed installed in our covered outdoor patio papers on our table below it would fly off. However, on the 9th day, it quit working, just like that. We tried all the troubleshooting instructions and nothing. We called minkaAire technical support and Chris told us the receiver would need to be changed INSIDE THE MOTOR. I told Chris we did not feel comfortable opening the motor. He replied either that or return it. His customer service needs polishing since he was rather annoyed at my call. Overall, we are frustrated and displeased with minkaAire. We threw away the fan box and now need to uninstall it, dismantle it, and return it. No replacement is currently available. Adding to the annoyance. I can't recommend this product for its short life span and crass customer service.

Great fan. Just bought a second one for outdoor porch, only because house was struck by lightning and killed my first one. Had the first one since 2020 and had no issues. I’ve had the second fan installed for about two weeks. No problems. Love that it has six speeds. It’s quiet and powerful. Moves a lot of air which is a must, here in central GA. Original fan saw some signs of rust once it was removed…probably because of outdoor use. Very pleased with this brand and model.

I purchased two of these ceiling fan for my outside porch. I am very pleased with the appearance. Though I must admit they were more time consuming and challenging to install. One worked perfectly from the start and continues to do so. The other makes an annoying noise if I run the speed past the half way (1-6). After 3 the noise starts. No solution. The section which would be used to attached the light for this fan is covered by a plate should you decide against using the optional light. This place is metal and falls off on occasion. Great looking fan and great CFM's aside from the two issues I have mentioned.

Best fan I’ve ever purchased. So quiet, I can’t believe how quiet it is and what an awesome breeze from angle of the blades!

Everything I expected and more. I had it installed by an electrician so that helped but it provides a great amount of air flow both up and down. Well made with an intuitive remote. Great product.
