Wonderful classic mystery,you cannot go wrong with any of the Sherlock

I prefer other Basil Rathborne movies but this one is definitely one I enjoy.

My husband can tell you all about Sherlock Holmes movies and books.The House of Fear is one of his favorites with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.We will watch it again and again!

Acting good..mystery story good.

This installment in the Sherlock Holmes series that starred Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce is a very enjoyable one.I caught this movie late one night on New York local TV station decades ago after coming home from a night out. Was struck by the moody atmospherics, great set work and a tight plot involving a string of murders amongst a social club at a spooky old house that only Holmes & Watson could solve.Enjoyed the film so much that I purchased a copy of it on VHS. But with the advent of the DVD and the promise of a better picture quality, purchased this DVD from Amazon.Even if you are not a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, buy this release if you like the classic mysteries or thrillers. Better yet, watch it on a stormy night with the lights off.

One of the most intriguing Sherlock Holmes movies starring Basil Rathbrone. Highly recommend

Universal made a series of Holmes with the dream cast of Rathbone and Bruce. They range in quality from awesome to yech! The House of Fear leans much further towards the awesome side, although my personal fave of the Universal series is the Scarlet Claw. Loosely based on the 5 Orange Pips, the short film packs the trademark Universal creepy landscape and plenty of shadows and secrets and people who aren't what they seem to be. It's elementary!

Going to tell you the same thing for every Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce "Sherlock Holmes" movie I purchased! They're all GREAT! I've been a fan of these movies and those actors since I was a child and that's been a whole lot of years! I now own every one they ever made with those two actors. Not interested in the others. Going to London on vacation next year and even plan to stop by and visit the "Sherlock Holmes Museum" there on--you guessed it--221 B Baker Street! :-D
