Up to what age/weight is this suitable for?

I got it from mothercare, it is suitable FROM 6 months, not sure what age it goes up to, as long as they fit in it i guess

Can the seat be removed so the mat can be used alone when baby no longer needs the support?

Yes, easily. I've been removing it and putting the seat back in several times. My lovely baby doesn't really like the seat so now we are using the mat without it.

How wide is the actual seat part out of the mat please? Our bath tapers in and might be too small

We have a P shape bath and I use it in the narrow end to avoid the taps at the wider end of the bath. I would imagine your bath would not taper in any more than the narrow end of my bath so would suggest it would be fine
