TRU-SPEC Boonie

I bought two of these boonies in tiger stripe, one in jungle, one in desert. The pattern on the jungle tiger hat is spot on, while the pattern on the desert tiger hat is missing one color, but still very good. I doubt most people would even notice. They are both good to excellent build quality, with a map pocket in the crown, and the brim is a little wider than most boonie hats I have. A feature which I like very much as it does a much better job of keeping the sun off your face and neck. They also came with cord locks on the cord that holds the hat on your head in the wind instead of the cheap little leather toggle that doesn't do much of anything. One drawback is the the length of that cord is a little short in my book. I gave five stars as there is no option for four and a half as jungle tiger is excellent, but the desert tiger is just slightly off. Great boonie hats of good quality though.

Ordered a large, and I wear a 7.5 so it fits well, without being too tight. If you have a head like a pumpkin.... maybe the XL would be better. But i found the large to be very comfortable. Good quality, and the chin strap guarantees that even flying around at speed in a boat, you don't lose it. Also a map pocket in the crown if that makes a difference. When you get it, pitch it in the washer, then lay it out to air dry. Otherwise the dye will run when you either sweat or get rained on. Solid choice for the money.

Quality and comfort are top notch. Sun protection was perfect. I spent over 110 hours doing event security and Thought about how much more satisfied I was compared to the 5.11 brand hat that was quite similar from Big 5 for almost twice the cost. I returned the 5.11 hat to Big 5. I strongly recommend this product.

I bought this hat to more effectively keep the sun off my face when I'm out in the yard and it does the job just fine. It fits great, and while I was probably expecting a thicker, more canvas-like material, it turns out that I like the more lightweight cotton better--again, out in the yard, the last thing I want is something heavy on my head. Getting it wet is not a problem. I have, on more than one occasion, filled it with water and dumped it over my head to cool off and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it dried out. The only thing I don't like am annoyed by the chin cord, but it's easy enough to cut off if you are too.

Product came as advertised on here, not a tight fit or a loose fit. Material feels a little cheap though, some of the stitching is already starting to frey. Otherwise it's pretty nice.

well worth $12. The hat is very well made. It helps if the hat fit loose is to have the chin strap (whatever you call it) on the back of your head and tighten it up by sliding the plastic piece on the chin strap until it tightens on the back of the head. The excess can be tuck under the hat if it gets in the way. That is how I wear it. It gets a good secure fit instead of having to keep the strap under your chin & it stays on better. It is 100% cotton which I like, it is hard to find bonnie hats that are 100% most of the time it is a blend.of poly and cotton This is very similar to the Vietnam Boonie hats that were 100% cotton. This has a inside pocket for keeping maps or for me my fishing license . The Vietnam bonnie's did not have this. Made me laugh to have the inside tag say" Made in Honduras from USA material" I guess the cotton came from the US and the hat was made in Honduras .,,, ;-) It is well made and I would buy again. I got olive drab , the picture from Amazon looks more like a Tan color but what I got is a military olive green This may help others to pick out their correct size. Mine turned out to be X large SMALL Size 6 3/4 - 6 7/8 21 1/8 " - 21 1/2 " MEDIUM Size 7 - 7 1/8 21 7/8 " - 22 1/4 " LARGE Size 7 1/4 - 7 3/8 22 5/8 " - 23 " X-LARGE Size 7 1/2 - 7 5/8 23 1/2 " - 23 7/8 Place measuring tape around your head about 1/8" above your ear, across the mid-forehead, completely circling your head. Hold the tape firmly, but not too tightly. Basically you need to measure your head exactly where the hat will sit. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next largest size.

The hat looks tactical. The material seems durable. It is extremely comfortable. I have no complain. The only downside is that the head size of the hat is not adjustable. Overall, it is a well made hat. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The hat is great overall... however, the one i received has the webbing halfway up the hat, whereas in the photos it is near the bottom. I think mine might be a result of low quality control. It throws off the proportions and looks a bit goofy, so its a bit disappointing.

I like the fact that this hat actually fit the way it is supposed to. I wore it for 13 hours straight the first day I had and couldn’t tell I was wearing it. As it was forecast to rain, I sprayed it with water repellent and it didn’t affect the characteristics of the hat, it maintained its shape.

El mejor boonie, de todas las marcas, es éste modelo, es práctico, cómodo y ajustable. No es impermeable, pero te mantiene seco en una llovizna. y te cubre el sol en el verano intenso. Compraría de nuevo sin pensarlo, si lo llegara a perder, porque si no, no creo que compre uno en mucho tiempo.

Siempre he comprado sombreros militares porque son muy útiles y prácticos y está marca en especial ofrece buena calidad, Durán mucho y no se deforman, solo que note que esta vez la cinta que forma los bukles donde se pone la hierva para el camuflaje venía colocada un poco más arriba de lo normal no se si ya los modificaron o si es un defecto de fabrica, pero es pasable al final deja más espacio para poder poner alguna botellita como aceite para lubricar el fusil o unas gotas para los ojos.
