Seems good quality

A bit hard to fit but that seems to be a good thing.

Not worth the price

Returning. Very cheap plastic opener and very difficult to open the lens.

Cons far outweigh Pros

Pros:1. good macro lens2. Good red lensCons:1. expensive2. Clip for macro lens is fragile and broke off3 It falls off easily so I had to McGuiver a string lanyard.4. Cannot use macro lens without using red filter.I do not recommend this and I regret spending so much $$ for it.[Update]I reported the broken latch problem to Polarpro and they promptly sent me a Switchblade 7. The Switchblade 7 is a fantastic accessory for doing uw gopro video. The design corrected the design flaws in the previous model that I bought by changing the mechanical latch to be magnetic and allowing the filter to be swiveled away from the lens. Also the mount onto the camera is now very secure.Unfortunately they ruined what would have been 5 star customer service experience by telling me the broken latch was somehow my fault so was not covered by the lifetime warranty! They said sending the model that includes the correctly designed latch was a 1 time exception. So I really really like the new design but it is still way too expensive to not be covered my a manufacturer's warranty.

Be mindful when jumping into the water/surf as durability is not it's strong point.

Really easy to use, great for snorkeling and diving. It is rather heavy so be sure to tether it to your mount properly and hold on to it when you backroll/giant stride off the boat during dives. The holder is made from plastic and is a little suspect in terms of durability but for a macro + color filter system at this price, can't really expect much more. Be sure to knock out the bubbles that can get trapped between the lens for better pictures. So far have been pretty happy with it..

Make sure you order the correct one! Mine is great!

First, I read a lot of comments about the filter not fitting. For the Hero 4 and 3+there are two housings. One is a 40M housing that it comes with. There is also a "dive" housing that is rated to 60M. The Hero 3 came with the Dive housing. The dive housing has 8 screws visible from the front. The one for the Hero 5 is called a super suit. There is only one to my knowledge.I have had 0 problems with the switch in over 30 dives. I have a tether, I don't remember if it is the original or one of my own making. I use it to ensure I don't lose it if should come off during a dive entry. It has never happened. The red lens pivots out of the way when you don't want to use it. You should not use it in shallow water or with a light. The red filter is useful from 15 to 80 feet. If you want more color correction, you can get filters with narrower ranges. PolarPro has a three pack with Red filter for tropical/blue water color correction, magenta filter for green water color correction, and Snorkel filter for shallow waters (2-15 feet). The Macro lens has a focal distance of 3 to 8 inches. Without the lens, the gopro does not focus closer than 12".As with all filters, shake the camera to get the air bubbles out after water entry. The water on the lens fills in minor scratches and they are not visible. Air bubbles always show. One thing to remember is to open the macro lens fully wen not using it. The wide angle of the gopro will catch the lens if it is partially closed. The red filter helps restore some of the color to your images but it won't be like a surface image. This filter is best between about 30 to 60 feet. This is good because the reef is most colorful closer to the surface anyway. Since you can slide the filter out of the way, just remove it when you start seeing more of the reds and oranges with your eyes. This let's you know the filter is not needed. If you really want true color, you need a light or strobe. The filter is great for distance pictures when a light won't help anyway. I dive with a wide angle video light and this filter. I like this filter because it is easy to remove the red and the macro but still have them at the ready. This attaches to the outside of your camera, it should not cause any leaks if your housing is working. This lens does not cause condensation in the camera. Closing the camera housing in a warm, moist environment then taking it diving does. Try to prepare the camera in an air conditioned area and use moisture munchers in the case.I use lens tissues and lens fluid to clean filters. No pressure should be required. Again, small scratches will be filled with water and not noticeable. Make sure the lens areas of the camera and the housing, inside and out, are clean also.

Works as advertised, but it has drawbacks.

Generally, this product works as advertised and it can be very useful for scuba diving. It does have some drawbacks that I think bring it down to three star worthiness for the price.Pros:-The macro lens lets you get pretty close, probably about a foot or so inches away. It's not nearly as close as some other underwater cameras, but it's great for an action camera. It really expands what you can take shots of. It's good in the "in between" macro and distant shots.-Fits pretty snugly on the Super Suit and it's safe when you use a lanyard to keep it from floating away. It can pop off from time to time.-It's easy to switch the macro lens on and off.Gripes:-Durability: there's a plastic clip that holds the macro lens in place. It's fairly flimsy and eventually broke off. Now I have to hold the lens in place by hand. I'm working to submit a warranty claim. Unfortunate for something that costs $70.-Red lens: the red lens is nice when you need it, but a nuisance when you don't. It's only useful in bright blue water, making the entire setup useless if you're using external light, which is often necessary when doing close up shots or when night diving. If there was a way to remove the red lens, it wouldn't be an issue. I ultimately ended up popping out the red lens and using the macro lens alone.Ultimately, the high price is a bit hard to stomach for a product that I had to alter (by removing the red lens) in order to make it work well in all conditions. It's still cheaper than many alternatives.

What a disappointment!

Tried this lens once. Only once because now it's at the bottom of the Carribean. Does not stay on or fit the GoPro at all! What a disappointment!
