We used to do sparklers, but sparklers are very short lived. I switched over to these Glow Sticks as they just work. So, let's hit the key points. == Durability == Yes, these last. At one of our parties, a child with sensory issues that chewed on everything gnawed through their glow stick. It took quite a while and several reprimands from their parent before they broke through. I'm not saying these are chewy toys, but if your child does have oral fixation issues, you'll have enough time to recognize before they break through. Thankfully, these are non-toxic, which leads to the next story. == Safety == I love that these are non-toxic. This was no more useful than when a teenager at one of our gatherings broke one open with a knife and poured it all over herself so she would glow. This is NOT INTENDED USE. Despite her misuse, she could safely wear the glow stick contents without fear of poison. I still don't recommend this usage, but it's good to know that unexpected usage is not detrimental to your health. The only safety risk is the lanyards. An adult should help children with applying these as they can be a strangulation hazard. == Duration == On average, these last for 6-8 hours. The longest one of these lasted was 12 hours (Not typical). My kids tried the old freezer/fridge trick. The answer is NO, these do not last longer if you put them in a cold temperature. These are also not emergency flares, so the 6-8 hours is more than enough for the parties we throw. I'd say that they last as long as they should. Even with the 6 hour minimum (they advertise 8), it's still good for the price. == Value == Do the math... A the time I purchased these, it was a 100pk for $30. That's roughly 30 cents per stick. You can't get that value at a dollar store. The cost per unit is just better than I've found elsewhere. With Amazon Prime's Free Shipping, it's hard to pass this up. == Summary == They glow, come in many colors, last 6+ hours, are kid safe, teen safe, and lighten up any party.
