Meyle 300 325 0001 Oil Pan, Automatic Transmission

I bought this for my 2005/05 BMW 320i (E90) automatic and have just fitted it. As far as I can tell it's identical to the one I took off and went back OK.If you're doing an auto box oil/pan change I'd make the following comments:- BMW ATF-2 is what they recommend for this model at £26/L, I used Red Line D4-ATF (bought from demon tweeks at £15/quart = 0.95 L) and the gearbox feels fine so far. I'm not a cheapskate, I just felt irritated at BMW holding me to ransom and all that "it's a lifetime oil" nonsense. You can't get suitable oil from Castrol or Shell (according to them) whereas when I emailed Red Line they got back to me straight away with a recommended product.- You'll need an oil transfer pump and a long pipe to fill the box. I bought a cheap-ish 1 L Draper pump and got myself another 4 m bit of 5 mm bore PVC tubing.- On my car there's an annoying exhaust bracket which you have to remove to get the pan off (which wasn't mentioned in the guide I read before I started). They're "male" torx fasteners (the torx bit sticking out) so you'll need the appropriate tool or you can do what I did when I discovered this and didn't have the appropriate tool and use a 10mm bi-hexagon ring spanner, which fits just like it was made for them.- You have to put the car in drive and reverse whilst it's up on axle stands to get the oil into all the bits of the box, then check the level and top up (repeat this a couple of times until it runs out of the fill plug). The traction control will freak out when you do this, so maybe turn that off (I didn't and it still worked, but I was scratching my head about what the flashing light was for a minute there).
