Great introduction to coding for children
The Matatalab Robot is very user friendly for children to even use! Suitable for kids ages 4 and older! The keys have arrow images that represent left and right turn, and moving forward in case children have not yet learned their letters or how to read words. It comes with obstacle walls, a board, keys, as well as a tower to send directions to the robot. The robot was very adorable and the colors were very engaging. I am a Kindergarten Teacher and I teach in a Computer Science Immersion School and have started to introduce this robot to my students. They are very excited to continue learning how to create codes for the robot. Some of my students have not learned their letters yet so this is a great way for them to be able to learn the concept of coding even though they do not know how to read words to input codes. The robot even creates music as well as lights up. Highly recommend the Matatalab Coding Robot even for at-home use!

Really Cool Tool for Critical Thinking Skills - For Younger Kids Only
My kids wanted this so bad, they pooled their own money to purchase it. They are 7 and 9 years old. Although it was really cool and worked exactly as advertised, the "fun factor" wore out for them very quickly. Once they mastered the concepts and ran a couple of programs, they quickly became bored. Total play time wasn't more than a few hours before they put it down forever. I think it would be great for much younger kids, but for kids at the top of the "for ages" range, it's a no-go for us. A couple value negatives are 1) The music tiles weren't part of the package. For the massive price, these might have extended the fun time a little. 2) It only came with one charging cable, but two components require charging, and the charging cable is something non-standard. One positive is that Dad (me) was amazed at the technology that went into this toy. It worked flawlessly.

Better than expected!
We purchased this for our 3.5 year old as an introduction to coding. We love that no extra device or app is needed. We are learning with our daughter as we go as well. She is a quick learner and loves to learn, so we felt comfortable purchasing this for her. It took a few times for her to begin having some understanding of the concept of coding. It’s fun for her and even for the adults. Highly recommend as a first coding game for young kids.

I really wanted to love this product but it broke within 4 months of use. Paid so much for a product with high hopes but didnt pay off

Good for preschooler
Bought it for my 4 years old. It was well designed and made. It introduced the basic concepts of sequence of events, repetition, and functions. We both enjoyed it. The only thing I don't like about it is its instruction manual. It was very difficult to read with different languages scrambled together instead of separating them into different sections.

High-quality but limited and has reliability issues
First of all, this set is very well-made: high-quality plastics, great UX (board, tower and robot are very easy to operate). Connection between the tower and the bot is very reliable, never experienced any issues with it. Program execution is also very reliable, we didn't get any misfires. Now 2 reasons for 3-star rating: 1. First, an obvious one. After 2 years the tower stopped working. It doesn't turn on and when plugged to a charging cord, it just blinks the green light. This error code is not mentioned in the manual. I contacted the support but received no answer from them. I'm actually not sure if there is _any_ kind of support for this product. 2. The replayability of this toy is very limited. It comes with 3 booklets of "puzzles" with increasing difficulty. But they all boil down to making the bot do a certain trajectory on the provided board. After that is done, there is very little else you can do with it. You can't do more complex programs: even if you had additional tiles, the program board space won't allow you. To be fair, there are ways to extend this: there are "artist" and "musician" add-ons and for more complex programs one should probably use the app. We have never tried these after our set stopped working though.

Great Gift for Kids
This is a present for my nephew. He and his parents like it very much. His parents attach great importance to his child's STEAM education, hoping that he can get good enlightenment when he is young. Matatalab toys allow him to learn while playing, and the robot's shape is very cute. All in all, very good educational robot toys.

Not worth the price
The robot gets stuck on the folds and seams in the playfield grid; if I were to put a plastic/glass top over the field it would work a lot better. It worked pretty good on short carpet and probably would navigate fine on wood floors, but then you don't have the grid to do the exercises. Even if it worked perfectly, there are a number of other early programming products that are a better value for the money. My son lost interest after a fairly short while, mostly due to the playfield problems and not too interesting programming tasks; it is a little fun to watch the robot drive around and he liked the robot dancing routine, but that only lasts so long and isn't really a

Well-thought coding set for kids
Matatalab Coding Robot Set for Kids As a parent in the age of gaming apps, the thought of pushing my child toward learning how to code ran through my mind, but I did not want him to be forced into liking it. This toy is the solution! The control tower and the little robot car come with two double-sided theme maps, two storybooks, one gamebook, two sets of paper crafts, and stickers. Basically, your child has to be the control tower and create commands using the little buttons provided to move the little robot car. It's delightful how each command button can make the car move in different directions. Once the child understands the logic, he can take on the challenges in the gamebook. And even after completing them, he won't get bored because he can use his imagination and create stories out of crafts, and he can even use his legos to have a ride in the car. What I like best is that you can play with it without going through an app. And, even without buying the add-ons available, your child can enhance their imagination and create their own stories and maps using 10cm by 10cm, which I noticed is the fixed range for every movement. But the sensor add-on looks very exciting as it allows for sound, color, distance, and light senses. After 4-6 hours of playing, when it's time to recharge, you only need to charge it via the USB-C port - so convenient! The tower was fully charged after 4 hours and the car robot after 2. With initial guidance and enough enthusiasm from both parent and child, this game will bring hours of fun in learning much sought-after skills. I very much recommend this product.

Excellent
I wasn't exactly sure what this product does when I requested to review. From the images I thought it looked interesting, unique and I have a friend who has young children. My children took part in STEM clubs while at school and found them challenging and great fun. The box is well designed to be attractive without being too educational and really grabbed the attention of my friends children. However, when opened both children aged 5 and 7 got a bit frustrated because it does require things to be laid out but then that happens with a lot of toys. They both loved connecting the robots and thinking about planning the route, it was great to hear the discussions between them about how to do it, a great experience. After a little while the 5 year old lost interest but the 7 year old thoroughly loved the challenge and you can see he has a massive sense of achievement. In fact he hasn't stopped talking about it and schools friends have been over to give it a go. The look of the product and design is aimed at 4+ as described on the box, the colours, shapes and the way the leaflet is laid out so I honestly believe this is fine for 4 years on wards, I think my friends 5 year old walked away from it because there is only so much you do with your brother without him possibly taking over. This is a great product to give to a young child and spending time with them working out how do or just sitting back and watching them figuring it all out. It is quite expensive at the time of review £129 but then its a great STEM toy full of fun and learning.
