This is a replacement for my last EJ DE89 that lasted 11 years. I normally shave at least twice a week but it was a daily task before retirement. The DE89 is mildly aggressive. I use Feather blades and the shave is very comfortable. If a beginner to this type of shaving watches his technique, and takes their time, it is a perfect razor to learn with and then continue in daily use for a long time. I did not see any difference in the quality of the two. The Muhle r89 felt a bit heavier and the grip was smoother. I picked the EJ89KN due to the lighter weight and handle grip.
