If you are 50+, it's for you!!
Ok folks, here's my review. Some people were harsh on this little guy. A better quality radio alone will cost at least 100.00. I know. I own them. I think some reviewers do not remember or understand 1980s technology. They want booming bass, etc. Important lesson: Cassettes are analog! This 12ร5ร5 boombox was popular in the 1980s for small spaces. It will fill a room. The ad states 4 watts. Did they not read?? The sound is perfect for the price point and size. It is quality made. Not a cheapo! Sturdy, good quality plastic. Reception for am/fm is great. It has 2 shortwave bands. I am not sure if there is a DSP chip. Bluetooth pairs flawlessly. No tape tested. I don't have any. I am only using it for streaming audiobooks. It offers 5 ways to listen to music. Read the description. I am 55 years old and remember these players at most electronic stores in the early to mid 1980s. If you are my age, you will understand how it sounds! Milenials may have issues with it. It has multiple functions including an aux Jack. It's a cute memory for someone who grew up in that era. I am giving a 5 star rating due to the accuracy of the era being represented. It's not Bose, Tivoli, or Sangean. Just buy it and listen to some 80s cassettes, or stream to it. Great packaging! Cute gift! Give it a try. You can return it, anyway!

Cutie Patootie
Sounds exactly like it should! Not hi-fi but a party. It's little and cute and packed with features. Recorded aux in (y'all crazy trusting Bluetooth) just gotta be careful that the original source volume isnt too cranked.

Pretty solid little radio
So I purchased this radio about 2 years ago for a camping trip and aside from the handle being a weak point the rest of the functions work perfectly! The sound quality isn't the best but if you've ever used the old ones like it the sound quality is comparable and with batteries in it I've gotten atleast 72 hours of playtime before they start to die. If you're looking for a good radio for outdoor activities or even an emergency backup radio I'd highly recommend picking one of these up

Nice recorder
Its got a lot of functions. Good for recording. Playback might be best on a system with better amplification plus the tuner is arcaeic. Great for recording off the phones bluetooth onto tape or usb flashdrive. With more wattage & bigger speakers, this thing would be a hot seller i bet. The function variety beats them all, ot just needs to be jazzed up a little bit for the manufacturer to really clean house. Peopke will be buying them left and right.

Falls short in every aspect.
Wow. I really wanted to be able to love this radio and display it on my retro music shelf. However, there's just so much that is wrong with this product. Firstly, the appearance WOULD be amazing if it weren't for the TERRIBLE quality control. The color of the yellow paint is eye-catching and cute, however, the crude paint job definitely looks like someone hosed it down outside with a rattle can. Orange peel everywhere. Some spots thicker than others. Edges so thin you can see the gray base beneath it, etc. One of the speaker grilles was dented inward (pictured), the cassette player door was sunken in on one side and protruded outward on the other (pictured), and there was a specific button to control track functions for Bluetooth connection that was so caked with overspray from whatever Picaso painted this thing, that it would either get stuck or wouldn't budge at all (pictured). As for the sound, well... it's about what you'd expect. I tried the Bluetooth function and found it to be flat with not much range to it and not all that loud. Being that it has what seems to be 2 substantial drivers, it definitely leaves a lot to be desired. I also tested the radio function which was actually serviceable and was able to tune in to more stations than I would've thought with a decent signal. I know...I know... you shouldn't expect the best-of-the-best at this price range. It's just that I've owned other 'boombox' style radios that I've purchased for much less and they've lasted well over 10 years while also looking and sounding good! I also have a collection of Bluetooth speakers that I've purchased for half the price which have a sound to them that simply blows this out of the water. All-in-all, I was hoping to get something that, at the very least, looked the part. This radio fails in almost every regard. Not sure if I just so happened to be the "lucky winner" or if this is the attention to detail they put into this entire line of Riptunes radios. As it stands, I cannot recommend this and will definitely be requesting a refund in order to purchase something with a bit more refinement and quality assurance. Sorry, Riptunes... this ain't it!

Bluetooth is the best funtioning feature, Tape deck is the worst
TL;DR- Tape Deck Bad, Radio and Bluetooth Good. Doesn't work for what I want it for. I'll start off with the good- It's a very cute, product! Definitely smaller than the images will have you believe, the other reviewers are right about that, but I really like for its portability and weight. The bluetooth function is great! I had trouble connecting my mom's phone to it (her phone wouldn't show the radio name to connect to it so it was probably her phone's fault anyway,) but mine connected easy peasy, no problem, and the sound quality is good! It's obviously no $200 Bose speaker, but it's perfectly crisp enough to be enjoyable. I was honestly happily surprised by the sound quality, considering some of the reviews on here. The volume goes a bit higher than I was expecting too so that was a nice bonus. (Not sure if it goes loud enough to use it for a party though, this radio is better for sitting on the porch or the beach.) The radio function is fine as well, I like the old dial way of tuning it, it's a fun little touch. Again, sound quality is fine for the radio. It's the tape deck that disappoints me. I wanted to be able to make mix tapes on this, and I was especially hopeful about being able to use the bluetooth function to do it, as I have a lot of pre-made playlists on my phone. You /can/ technically do this, but the sound quality is just not good enough. I was prepared for a bit of static, a kind of lo-fi quality to the recording, and it DOES have static, but /on top/ of that, the playback is just so /wobbly./ High notes get dropped, the singer is made to sound like he's nervous at a school talent show with how his voice pitches all over the place, and the playback kind off... it speeds up? and slows down? incrementally, and periodically. It's just on the wrong side of weird and it honestly just makes it sound kind of haunted. It's hard to hear past it. Playback of tapes recorded elsewhere is a little more functional, but still testy. My batteries apparently weren't supplying enough power to the radio, and neither was the power strip I plugged it into. If it's not directly in the wall plug, the cassette playback is /slow./ Literally just slow, it makes the singers sound kind of demonic. Again, hard to hear past that. Not very enjoyable. I did NOT test the other features, so I have no reviews for those. I wanted this radio for the tape recording abilities, and I'm sad to say I've been disappointed. I know the recordings can be better because I /have/ a radio that can and has done it better. (That one just doesn't have bluetooth, aux, usb, or sd abilities, so I have no way to record the music I want.) If you just want a fun little radio and you don't care about cassettes that much, this will probably work great for you! But if your primary interest is in the tape deck on this thing, don't get it.

Cassette recorder doesn't stay in speed slows down often and picks up back to regular speed
Sounds alright for tha 2 speakers amd bass control i feel like it should be just more thump power and(bass)and bestter sound quality recording on this is not very ideal at all actually it slows down everynow n den so when ur done its slow and goes back to regular speed to often which is annyoying so recording doesn't stay at one speed like all others ive used or had but thats ok its not to bad playing cassettes actually is good isnt tha best like i said with sound quality it sounds like tha speakers aremt strong like cheap speakers but it gets it done its not too loud for 2 speakers i used to have a sony about same size with no bass control and only 1 speaker with less power that even sounds so gooddd but its not to bad radio is actually really good i love it it does record off radio and aux pretty sure it would record off USB and sd to cassette not so sure about Bluetooth thats not y i bought it and its actually really light smaller then how sum picture shows misleading but it fits in a purse thats not to small or a bag any size also not to small of a bag i use tha battery to power it and it takes 6 C battery if i remember correctly i dont use tha cord but it works with cord too jist as same as battery i prefer batterys but tha cord is really good too sound quality isnt terrible i just real like it should or could be just a lil better handle is slick! Aux works real well for mp3 or touchscreen i like mp3 better (no ads ) my lil sister connected to Bluetooth once that i know of and it had good range not to bad played toonz with same quality as radio its just casstte aound quality could be better my opinion i bought this for radio casstte and aux wuz a bonus everything else like bt Usb Sd is like add ons to me overall pretty good not to bad

You CAN record from Bluetooth to cassette
I bought this for my 85 year old father for Christmas after he expressed that he missed an old boom box he used to have. He didn't like it because it was too "new fangled and fancy" - he also did NOT have any tapes to play in it of the music he wanted. Old 50's country and westerns - impossible to buy. My only complaint was that the instructions did not make it clear how you could record from Bluetooth but once I figured out that you could, I was able to give him the best gift ever on his birthday a few weeks later. I found an old Magnavox dual cassette boom box with equalizers and dubbing capabilities on EBay - exactly like the one he used to have, some low noise 90 minute Maxwell cassettes on Amazon, young Johnny Cash, Ray Price and many more on Amazon Music to start his collection. The recording are very good and gave great playback for an old tape player and an old music lover with bad hearing. Now this player sits in my office looking cute and sounding great while standing ready to make new cassettes for my Daddy when he thinks of someone else he would like to hear. To record off Bluetooth, put switch in Bluetooth position, sync up your phone, put your blank cassette in and press record. Move the switch to tape button to playback what you recorded. Delivery was fast, I am super super happy with this product even if it broke tomorrow, it was well worth the cost
