A Deserved WOW...
Remember the Wow? OM Systems started the promotion of their new OM 1 camera touting it as a WOW equipment piece. Many in the YouTube and camera review world doubted this decree. Many found it hard to believe that much improvement could be attained despite a revamped sensor, a much-tightened menu system, and other advances. I am wondering if when testing their new camera maybe, JUST MAYBE, OM Systems viewed testing results thru the rose-colored lens of the Sigma 56mm 1.4 lens. Of course, not really rose-colored, but WOW. 2X WOW. I purchased the Sigma 56mm 1.4 for my OM 1 and I wasn’t ready for a number of good points. The lens is—at once—small, light, and VERY QUICK to acquire accurate focus. , Unboxing—the lens began my OMG day. The lens is much more diminutive than you may think. And while being solid with great glass, somehow it’s as light as its size promises. Imaging—absolutely fabulous photos! Good contrast and true colors. Even better than the Olympus 40-150mm 2.8. More natural yet still vibrant. I am past surprised, I am at WOW. Bokeh—even before you get to F1.4 you have smooth and very noticeable bokeh. Caught me off guard. Open to 1.4 and “oh! SOB! I’ve got something here.” Now there’s only one more on the TO DO list: OM Systems needs to collaborate with Sigma and form a serious partnership like Sony did with Zeiss. Come on Sigma, OM Systems let’s form a trust! Everybody will be happy $$$ !!

Great Lens
I use this lens on my Panasonic Lumix G9 and I’m very pleased so far. The lens is very sharp, it works fine with all of the G9’s autofocus modes (including the face/eye detect and the animal detect) if perhaps a tad slower than some of my other Panasonic Leica lenses, and the construction quality is excellent. I remember Sigma lenses from the old days and this lens is nothing like their budget offerings of yesteryear. In fact, it’s nicer than many camera brand lenses. I was a bit concerned that the slightly odd field-of-view equal to a112mm lens on full-frame might be problematic, but having used the Nikkor 105mm lens for decades it wasn’t that different. If anything, the slightly longer focal length helps overcome a weakness of Micro 4/3s; namely, producing more pronounced background blur for increased subject separation. To sum up, this lens should definitely be on your list if you’re shopping for a portrait lens or a general-puprpose telephoto lens.

Great Portrait Lens--Has Wonderful Bokeh
I had my doubts but thought I'd give it a try knowing I could return it. Turns out you'd have to pry it out of my hands. It autofocus is perfect and so is the bokeh it creates. The images are as sharp as a macro lens. I have three Lumix Leica lens' and I'd rate this right up there with them.

RAZOR SHARP!
What a phenomenal lens! I'm using mine with an OM Systems OM-1 camera. Very pleased with the insanely good image quality and AF speed. Great purchase!

The 42.5 Nocitron Killer
What can I say about this lens... well it's metal, weather sealed, and sharp as hell. Even at 1.4 it is sharp all the way across with basically no vignetting on the sides. I could have paid $1000 for this lens and been happy as a clam. All I can say is BUY THIS LENS. I shot the ring pics at 1.4 on my GH5. The video is even sharper. The colors are so pleasing and the contrast is great. The AF was spot on once I got used to backing up, I am used to macro. All around this lens is a master piece. For video the IS was great. Almost gimbal smooth but that was with my camera 5 axis. The focus ring is nice and smooth and made of rubber that almost feels like the metal on the lens but it is easier to grip especially when wet. If you look close you can clearly see me taking the picture in the models eye.

Awesome lens
First time trying a Sigma lens on my Olympus. Very impressed with the focus accuracy and speed. Lens is very sharp, really enjoy using it.

Incredibly sharp and fast
Sharpest lens I own. This gets incredibly narrow depth of focus, with very pleasing bokeh and subject separation. This is an excellent portrait lens, but can be a bit tricky to use in tight spaces. Would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for something in the 45-85mm range for portraits.

A MFT prime that equals the Olympus 75mm f/1.8? Indeed!!!
I purchased this lens for the purpose of having a mid range prime that was actually f/1.4 without having to spend over $1,000 ala the Olympus Pro lines (45mmm f/1.2, e.g ). I presently own the Oly 45mm f/1.8 and the Oly 75mm f/1.8...both are outstanding in their own right. The 75, whilst producing some of the most outstanding IQ and bokeh in the MFT line up in my opinion, is a rather odd length that often requires some creative composition- not necessarily a bad thing; but as such simply a lens that doesnt get taken out of my bag as often. When the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 C was released, I purchased it on a whim....and was awestruck by the results. The only lens that I've seen that is as sharp (sharper?) and renders as well as my 75.....plus it's 2/3 stops faster and weather sealed....not to mention a more useful focal length. End of story...I sold both my 45 f/1.8 and 75 and this is now my go to portrait lens. Couldnt be more pleased....

Sharp, fast and small - a great lens for many uses
I bought this Sigma lens for my Olympus e-m5 mark iii because I wanted a small, fast, sharp and weather-resistant lens for travel, street photography. Well this ticked all boxes. It is mostly promoted as a portrait lens and surely it is useful for that kind of photography. However it is an amazing lens for landscape and for street photos in the sense that you shoot pictures from a distance and get to the detail of the scene. It is well worth the money.

Superb - gotta have it!
Has quickly become one of my most used lenses, and brilliant especially for indoor events and concerts. Sharp wide open, though better stopped down a notch or two as the depth of field is very shallow at f/1.4. Sharper at f/1.8 than the Olympus 45mm, and to my eyes better, richer, nicely saturated colour rendition, a feature I appreciate about all the Sigma lenses I own. Getting this lens completes the Sigma fast prime trinity alongside the 16 and 30mm. All are excellent, but the 56 is the most consistent of the three - none of the slight focus hunting of the 30mm, and sharper wide open than the 16mm, as well as being the least bulky. Was thinking about getting the Olympus 75mm, but no need - the Sigma plus an old teleconverter gives me the equivalent and more in terms of reach and speed. Trust-wise, this is on a par with the Oly PRO zooms in my opinion. So if the focal length is one you can use on m43, this lens is an essential addition. Beats the Oly 45 f/1.8 hands down, and a considerable saving in weight and price over the 45 f/1.2. Massive salute to Sigma for this absolute winner.

Top !
Un objectif léger mais bien fini. Monté sur mon Olympus micro 4/3, il fournie des photos très piquées qui fourmillent des détails. Au prix où il est vendu, il ne faut pas hésiter
