after reading all the reviews I was hesitant to buy. However, needed to fill in patch areas in my yard so I bought one roll of the burmuda and was actually pleasantly surprised. I love how easy it is to spread down and after 4 weeks it started coming in with some really pretty grass! the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it took a while to come in. One thing to note is you have to keep it moist. water at least 2 times a day. I watered 2 to 3 times a day as I live in Calif. and it gets pretty warm in the afternoon. you need to be on top of it every day. Water is the key for this stuff. But the really awesome part.....not one weed came through. its crazy. I'm not sure if that's because I use pre emergent every season which didn't allow any weed seed to germinate or if the grass pad isn't full of weed seed as I expected. I will be getting another roll for other patches in my yard.

really wanted this product to work, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the claims. I followed all the instructions exactly as directed—proper ground preparation, consistent watering, and placement—yet I saw little to no grass growth. The concept itself is great—having a biodegradable mat that combines seed, fertilizer, and mulch all in one sounds incredibly convenient. The product is advertised as a simple “roll it out, water, and watch it grow” solution, with seeds protected between layers to prevent washout. However, in my experience, the results did not match that promise at all. Even after giving it ample time and maintaining proper moisture levels, the coverage was very patchy, and in some areas, nothing grew whatsoever. It felt like the seed distribution within the mat was inconsistent, or possibly not viable. For the price and the expectations set by the product description, this was disappointing. Traditional seeding methods have honestly given me better and more reliable results. Overall, I would not recommend this product based on my experience. It may work for some, but it definitely did not perform as described for me.

I was a little skeptical but I was having problems with my lawn and thought that I had nothing to lose. It actually worked well. I placed the paper rolls down on the ground and watered them. The paper began to disolve immediately. I kept checking it and in two weeks I had grass sprouting. It worked. I thought that it was a little expensive but grass seed is expensive too.

I have tried putting down several different brands of grass seed in a particular area of my lawn and have had no luck. I was about to try some of the "spray grasses" but stumbled across this product and glad I did. Here is a quick rundown of my experience. (Area I used this on is sunny half the day and shady the rest of the day.) When I went to purchase I thought 50 square feet would be plenty for my needs. It "just" covered the small area I wanted to do. So to me, it was expensive in comparison to the amount of yard I was using it on. It would be wise to actually measure the area vs. "guestimating" like I did to be safe. The directions included are very clear and straight forward. I followed them to the T and had no issues as expected. This rolls out very nicely and quickly. My watering regimen was three times a day for several weeks. Morning, Afternoon, and Evening. Photo showing the material being freshly put down was 7/31 and my after photo was taken 9/15. (6 weeks) This did the trick and the grass has been doing very well since. So in short, I was happy with the outcome and this did what I needed. Two thumbs up. One tip is to be sure your area is well saturated before putting it down and be on top of the watering schedule for best results.

I'm in the TX panhandle and it has been dry this summer. I could not seem to keep this stuff wet enough. With my first attempt, I mostly relied on my irrigation system to keep this stuff moist, but even letting the system run for 10 minutes every 2 hours was not enough. The patches that dried out were easily picked up by the wind and scattered about my yard. I tried again a 2nd time, watering by hand, and in shadier locations, but that has not produced results. It does look like the GrowTrax provided enough shade and a bit of a moisture barrier to help my existing bermudagrass fill in a desired area.

So depending on the time of year will vary how fast your the grass will grow. We initially bought this product during spring and it grew very fast. We bought it again during winter, and it has been a slow growth. It still grew during winter, but definitely not the way when we initially bought it. Some of the seeds did not sink down all the way during the winter session. You really do need to spray it heavy to get the seeds to get into your dirt. Either way it is a great buy and is perfect for what we needed. A lot of our existing grass went dormant for winter, and turned yellow. However, this grass stayed green all yr long. We are definitely trying to have it takeover our entire lawn. Recommend that you use it during a spring season if you want fast results.

This is terrible. I know it says do not put out in wind but it was a gentle breeze and it was torn to shreds. Had to buy some burlap to cover it as once you water it , it the disintegrates into pulp. Save your money and buy grass seed. Should have gave it a one star is it has been almost a month and no growth.

We laid this out in April when we had a lot of rain. Perfect conditions for growth and nothing sprouted. If it wasn’t kept wet, it would blow away. Looked awful. Do not buy this. After a few weeks I gave up and pulled it up.

It took a while, but it definitely worked 👍
