Essential for Engraving Metal and Glass with a Diode Laser
This is a must-have product if you are using a diode laser and want to engrave materials such as metal and glass that would normally be difficult or impossible to mark directly. The spray is easy to apply and produces sharp, high-contrast results that look very professional. It significantly expands the range of materials that can be engraved and opens up many new project possibilities. I have been very impressed with the results and now consider this an essential part of my laser engraving toolkit. If you want to get more capability out of your diode laser, this product is absolutely worth having on hand.

Works as it should, but expensive.
Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Great spray for laser marking. My only complaint is itโs a little pricey for just some paint that washes off. There are more options that crafters can do that does the same thing, I purchased this spray at the last minute because I didnโt have the other options. Overall, I cannot give this any less than five stars just because of the price.

Highly recommend
I bought this marking spray to write names on an 0.02in thick aluminum plate with a gold paint on top using a 40W diode laser. For the first 2 rounds I didn't get the expected results as I was high higher power and speed settings. The name will come out pale gray/white in color similar to the native Aluminum. I posted a question on the Amazon website and their customer service immediately reached out to me. Their customer service rep accommodated my schedule and called me in the evening. He provided some ideas on how to use the spray and also suggested that I create material test array using power and speed conditions of 10 - 60 for each settings. I applied the spray and used these conditions. The results immediately showed that I had to go down even slower in both power and speed to get the desired results. I ended up using a slower speed of 5 mm/s and power setting of 5% that allowed the marking spray to interact with Aluminum giving me beautifully engraved names. Excellent customer support and product. Highly recommend for any laser aficionados out there looking to engrave metals.

Mixed results
I had mixed results using this product. My application required text and photo on a memorial plaque. I started with anodized aluminum sheet with a satin finish. (AKA Brush finish) The text transferred well, it was black and well defined. The image (B&W bit map) printed well, but due to the satin finish, directional lighting was critical to viewing the image. Depending on the viewing angle, the lenticular scratches reflected the light in such a way that the image appeared as a negative. Viewed from another angle, the image appeared as a positive. Realizing that the lenticular scratches were the problem, I sanded through the anodized finish with a random orbital sander. I sanded the aluminum down to a matt finish starting with 80 grit and ending with 1000 grit paper. After degreasing with rubbing alcohol, I ran several trials at different speed and power settings on my 30W Epilog laser. The matt finish did not produce the positive / negative issue of the satin finish. However, I had trouble with the fine matt finish not being able to reproduce the B&W tonal range of my image. In general, the image contrast was low. Overall it was either too light or too dark depending on my settings. I scrubbed the plates with the orbital sander to remove the image and text. After several trials, I discovered that the 1000 grit matt finish was too smooth. My best results were achieved with an 80-grit matt finish. The text always printed well regardless of finish, and I had reasonably good tonal range on the B&W image using 600 DPI, 75% Speed, 90% Power. (1200 DPI always printed dark and 400 DPI did not retain image details.) In conclusion, my best results were achieved when the aluminum had an 80-grit matt finish. Fingerprints are a problem. Degreasing is essential and avoid touching the engraving surface. The engraving was not as durable as I expected. It was very easy to scrub through and sand the image off for successive trials. I applied a clear lacquer finish to keep the aluminum from oxidizing. The finished product will be framed under glass.

Great product
Works really well with my 12w laser engraver and aluminum alloy coins. Only marks the coins (as intended) but engraving stays on. Used clear coat to ensure engraving does not get damaged.

Yeah you pay big bucks for this stuff. But the amount of time it saves you when you can get it nailed the first time you try is worth every penny

Very good!
Works great I donโt have problems using it on 304 stainless steel and entry level diode laser. Very durable, needs good sanding to be removed It fuses great with the materials donโt need to use much of this spray Expensive? Yes! Does it work good with entry level 6000mw diode laser Yes! I recommend this product.

Good for a quick project or two, but clogged over time.
This worked well at first, but about midway through, ran out of propellant. I got the rest out, and there was a lot of coating powder left. If you're looking for a few projects it's a great product, but be aware the nature of spray means any spray can is a compromise between ease of use and waste. If you're looking for something you may use a few times a month or year, I would go for the powder. For the money it's a more economical product, and introduces less waste.

Amazing
Works amazingly well - Iโm using a 455nm 40W laser to mark copper. Without the paint, I couldnโt get anything but a faintly discernible mark after 5 passes at 1mm/sec, 100% power. Now getting superb marking at 100% power, 100mm/sec speed, off a single pass. Wish Iโd discovered this earlier.

Amazing. Dries fast, washes off so easily and left a beautiful dark mark!
I did not expect these results. Just awesome. Technically I renewed (personalized) my tumbler. Shake well the can. Spray on the surface. Let it dry. (Do not touch it, it's like a powder). Laser engrave it. Wash with water. Ready! I liked this over a more expensive version as the plunger top is nicer and there is more information provided by this company... amazing customer service, they really went out of their way to help me get the right settings on my laser. Definitely will buy more!

Does work on Aluminum, If you do it Right.
This product is great. From personal experience it works great on aluminum if you add multiple thin layers drying them in between coatings. The more coatings the darker the engraving. For aluminum I use 100% power at 200mm/min on my 10W laser. The engraving initially leaves a white or grey residue embedded in the blackened material which can be removed by running the engraving under warm or hot water while gently rubbing the surface of the blackened engraving until it is not as rough. Since the powder seems to sublimate or deposit into the surface of the aluminum it may leave excess that makes it look light. You want to remove this excess material with the method suggested but you want to avoid scrubbing too vigorously so as to not remove the deposited material entirely exposing the bare aluminum below the engraving in small spots. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, especially when it comes to reading reviews; good products often get a bad rep because people simply haven't taken enough time to learn how to use them to their standards. Took me a while to get the results I was looking for but I sure got them. Practice makes perfect. 10/10.

Is expensive but don't use much product when lasering so would last for a fair while
