Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1969 debut album from the Dutch band featuring guitarist Jan Akkerman and vocalist Kaz Lux. Inspired by British acts of the day, Brainbox were equal to the talent of groups such as Taste and Jethro Tull and their debut album secured a world wide release in 1969. This edition features 11 bonus tracks taken from the band's single releases of 1969 and 1970. Esoteric. 2011. Review: finally got the long version of Sea of Delight! - This was the last of the lp's that I needed to complete converting my old lp collection to cd's. And it's remastered! Wow! Review: Five Stars - Excellent hard rock band,

DOWN MAN - by Brainbox
In 1969 I bought the single Down Man by this Dutch hard rock band. Jan Akkerman's guitar solo is short but incendiary. After all these years I remember it note for note. This song is included as one of the many bonus tracks on this remastered re-issue of their first titleless album that came out the same year shortly after. I recently heard the song as part of the soundtrack in the Anton Corbijn movie A Most Wanted Man. Some great guitar playing is also evident on the opening track Dark Rose, a fast blues. When Akkerman left the band soon after, to play in the band Focus, Brainbox continued with other guitarists and produced several more singles: To You, Doomsday Train, The Smile. All good rockers, with Rudy de Queljoe as new guitarist. These songs are also included on this disc. To some listeners the singer Kaz Lux's voice is an acquired taste. Give it some time, you'll like it sooner or later... Addendum: the single Down Man is also prominently used in the great soundtrack for the excellent 2017 comedy/crime movie LOGAN LUCKY by Steven Soderbergh.

The Singles were Better!
"Between Alpha and Omaga" was a real personal Song when played on KMET and KLOS at that time. The Studio Singles for some reason or another where much better in song and performance, such as "Doomsday Train" ( Great Singing on that one), "Virgin" and "The Flight"! Now, those Songs were played more in the South Land than the "Album" and I could understand why. P S. Just to give you People some idea's on other "Albums", I only like "ONE SONG ONLY" on these! "The Bow Street Runners", Electric Star. "The Collectors" (NOT the Canadian Band! ), She Will Own The Wind. "The Cryan' Shames", The Sailing Ship( Should have KEPT that style and arrangement with that SONG! ). "The Misunderstood", Golden Glass. "The Merseys", Sorrow. "Autosalvage", Land of Their Dreams. "The Koobas", Barricades. "Sagittarius", The Truth is not Real. "The Lemon Drops", Paperlane Flyer. "East of Eden", Northern Hemisphere and "The End's", Dreamworld. Just to let you People know were I'm coming from. HELL, might as well throw in "Blonde on Blonde's", Ride the Captain Max and Spinning Wheel. That's the only "TWO" I like out of the whole Album! So, you DIG IT? Lots of fillers out there!!!! But don't get Me wrong, if those Albums were sealed with original price tags, then Your going to throw in another phase if You know what I mean, and that's MONEY! Can't believe that guy from "New York City" with that bottom of the barrel stuff. WOW! I guess We hear anything We want, ha? Dude! The groups The Poets (UK) and The Incredible String Band a la Quick Silver Messenger Service? WOW, YOU KEEP THEM. I DON'T WANT THEM. I'll take the Bands "Heavy Jelly", "Taste", "Condello", "Fat Mattress" and throw in "Churchill" any day! Awesome Stuff for a Sound Room Collection! Buy the way, I've seen a White Label V.J. Introducing the Beatles Album made for Radio Only. The Record Cover is all White, just like the White Album, but the Bottom Right has the Stamp of VJ Records! On Top of the Record Cover on the left side is a Name in Red Ink, I'm not going to give You the Name of the Person, but says Lexington, Kentucky! The Record weighs a Ton! Not Conterfeit! How much for that baby?????????????????/

Must have!
Excelent album!

Excellent purchase
Hadn't heard of this record until it was featured in the MOV catalog. For fans of classic / Psych rock, a must have. Worth purchasing just for the version of Scarborough fair alone but it is all good. Being a MOV pressing, likewise with the Vinyl quality.

Brainbox
Ja die Holländer hatten es richtig drauf. Kannte die Gruppe noch aus meiner Schulzeit und habe sie als Jungrocker mal in Venlo gesehen. Eine richtige Zeitreise in die Dekade Ende der sechziger Jahre.
