The slates are a great deal! The size makes them more of personal charcuterie trays or maybe holds enough for two. Engraves excellent under a diode laser. If you do use it for food I recommend getting some food grade mineral oil to seal it though this will dull an engraving. The thickness is not the most consistent but you're dealing with a natural stone that must be split into sheets. For the most part they sit nice and flat on rubber feet at the corners. Out of probably six boxes I've only had two sheets with a small offset like having one shorter table leg. I love these and will keep on purchasing.

Easy to clean, value for the money, dont cut the cheese over the slate board, it flakes and stick black dots into the cheese. At least it happened to me the first time I did .

These slates are individually wrapped so I was not able to get a good look at them until I open each of them up. This is the 2nd time I have ordered these slates from this company and I was happy the first time. I bought 2 packs this time and I am sure they are fine. I will add to my review if necessary.

I made gifts of an unredacted version of the Ten Commandments from Exodus 20. I used my Laser Engraver and am very pleased how well it engraved. Three passes worked the best. People really appreciated them, espcially that the actual name for the Father (Yehovah) was honored in it. Just the right size. The thickness was perfect very strong, not cheap. Item could be used for engraving pictures, signs etc

I know these slates are advertised for food, but they are great to use with pets, too. These durable slates do not absorb moisture, so they are easily to kept clean and sanitized. The surface is smooth and holds heat well for reptiles to bask on, plus they file nails naturally for little critters. (One note of caution during pet use: Because they are slate, you do want to monitor the edges to make sure there are no sharp spots.) Overall it’s a great product. This is my second order of them.

As the title suggests, you should wipe these down with mineral oil and let it sit for at least 24 hours before using these. This will help to protect the stone from staining. Reapply every few months or as needed, and these will last a very long time! I use them as a stand for my oils next to my stove, and I use them to plate certain dishes and hors d'oeuvres.
