Where do you buy the fluid and what is it called?

Kami Scanner Mounting Fluid can be bought @ Aztek.com

Does scanner fluid ruin the negative?

No. It would be a disaster if the fluid ruined the negs. The scanning fluids, do as they say and make a world of difference to each scan. I use the fluid from www dot scan science dot com There are other similar brands that work aswell - without resorting to the “oil” of the past. Just use the suggested gear at the website I mentioned. Such as Mylar film, squeegee, etc to get all the bubbles out and remove the excess fluid - before putting the mount on top of your Epson flatbed to scan. (Don’t get fluid in your expensive scanner).

Can this this accommodate an 8x10 negative? The answers are contradictory.

Hi Chris, No. The Epson Fluid Mount Accessory for V800 / V850 can be used to scan film up to 5 × 9 inches (127 × 229 mm). Hope this answers your inquiry. - The Epson Team

Can this fixture hold prints for best focus?

No, the Fluid Mount Accessory is for film scanning using scanning fluid. For print scanning, use the reflective mat included with the scanner to help hold prints flat on the glass. - The Epson Team
