Relief for my arthritic hands
I had one of these when they first came out, and we wore it out. I didn't realize they were still around until I saw them on Amazon. With Rheumatoid Arthritis taking over my hands and life, it is no longer a pleasure being in the kitchen, its more of a job. I dread mealtime and its sad. I saw this but the price was beyond my range because I am on SSDI ($around 60.00), then I saw the other Prime Prices, in the warehouse. New but possibly repackaged, returned due to a slight blemish on the product that doesn't affect the use. In my price range and with my Swagbucks Gift Cards it only cost me $15.00. Note: We can't even find the blemish and my 19 year old tried because she delights in seeing just how picky some people can be. The blemish must really be slight if its there at all. It was delivered on Saturday and we finally used it last night. I remembered from last time to freeze block cheese for at least 1/2 hour, but not more than 45 minutes before grating it. And a clean up tip, if you're not going to be able to clean the cheese grater immediately - stick it in the freezer after cleaning out the bottom part, or you'll have gummed up cheese. If you are making hash browns shred potatoes, onions, and cheese into one bowl, mix them up, then what I do is put them into a jelly roll pan and bake until the potatoes are soft, and cut into individual sized portions, and freeze them for quick meal add ons or snacks. I always skip the salt, add fresh garlic, pepper and a bit of chili powder. You can figure out what works best for you. One thing we really like is fried potatoes but we don't make them more than once a month because of the fried part. Getting them browned up on the bottom, while soft is just not possible with slicing them the way they need to be, slicing them with my hands. Put them through this using the thin slicer, and they came out so nice, had to use less than 1 tablespoon of oil, grated an onion in with them and they were nice and crispy brown on the bottom, and then we grated Wisconsin sharp cheese on top, a little bit of cheese goes a long way with this, and that was dinner. My daughter had second helpings and then thirds, it was amazing for her. She is very sensitive to noise, and it is loud for her, for me it is not an issue. It works, it doesn't hurt my hands and I love it. Even if you don't have arthritis there is the time saving, and the economical savings to consider. Compare the cost of grated cheese to block cheese. Yes you can grate with a hand grater, but can you go through a block in less than 10 seconds? This does. Then you can flash freeze it in individual serving sizes if you want - and the fact that it looks like you're getting a whole lot more than you are getting, it works well for stretching the food dollar, another important consideration for us. If you know someone who has arthritis, is looking to do the freezer cooking that's so popular, gardening, and wants to put away things in the freezer this will save them time and money. I'm glad that I bought it, I love it and I highly recommend it. Now if I could just get it to cube potatoes for potato salad it would be perfect. Have a great day and thanks for reading the review. Love the blade choices
So much better than the smaller model we had before. Great choice of cutters. Makes quick work shredding or slicing.

Can slice and grate food as well as the large processors and is much more convenient.
I bought the Presto Professional SaladShooter in January, 2010, and it still looks and works like new. At the time, I also purchased 2 more cones that offered additional slicing and shredding sizes. I have used this SaladShooter often in the last 5 years, primarily for shredding large quantities of cheese that I freeze for later use. Although my primary use is to shred cheese, I have also used it to shred cooked potatoes for hash browns and for slicing vegetables. It has done a wonderful job on everything I have used it for. I have found it very easy to clean, but I have always washed the parts by hand. The cutting cones come out, and can easily be washed and dried. The chute unit comes off of the base for easy cleaning. A couple of the reviews have mentioned that food is caught outside of the cutting cones, and also gets stuck in crevices. I am a bit of a kitchen appliance junkie and have a few appliances that can be used for slicing, shredding, etc. including the attachments for the Kitchen Aid mixer, a Cuisanart food processor, and a couple of Ninja Kitchen Systems. Some use the cones as this one does, and some use blade discs. I have found that every single one of them leaves some chunks of food that isn't processed with the rest, and the blade systems generally have food sitting on top of the blade that isn't processed. Let's face it - even with a hand shredder you end up with a piece that can't be shredded unless you want to add a portion of your fingers to the food. All things considered, the Presto SaladShooter can do anything that the larger processors can do, but takes much less storage space. Since it is a smaller, hand-held unit, you will be more likely to use it more often than a larger, heavier unit that has to be moved from the back of a cabinet. UPDATE 12/02/16 I have had this Presto SaladShooter for almost 7 years, and it's still going strong. Of the many appliances I have, the SaladShooter does the best job of shredding cheese with the least waste. UPDATE 08/04/25: At this point in time, I have had this Presto SaladShooter for 15 years, and it still works as well as the day I bought it. The one I have is in white and is the same model as shown on this page. I still use it for shredding and slicing a number of veggies, potatoes, and cheese. Since it is so easy to clean, I just wash it by hand. Really, how many appliances sold today last and still work for 15 years!! I do have a couple of large food processors that I use when processing large batches, but this is my go-to appliance whenever I have a smaller amount of food to process. I hope this review was helpful for you.

Worth it for the price and what its for
I LOVE THIS SALAD SHOOTER! I had to have a new one, I wore the old one out. It lasted for years I'm kind hoping this one does too. The 1 thing i do not like is the funnel pusher top broke off. i could not find a replacement so i glued it back to together. wasn't durable and it broke off the base a couple of months in. The 2nd thing is the base where the graters go is too large for the graters and many times you get big slabs of say cheese and veggies. It works quickly and efficiently. Worth the price . It can be problematic to get food out of creases in base but i just use a brush to get them.

Shoots Cheese with Ease!
I needed a cheese grater and I didn’t want to turn a handle or push cheese through little holes. This machine solved the dilemma. After attaching the grater cone and pushing the on switch, the 2.5 lb block of cheese is reduced to a pile of shreds. I cut the block into 4 quarters to fit in the chute and push each with the food guide. No achy hands, wrists, shoulders or grated knuckles or fingers. Just disassemble and wash to use next time. Easy to use and clean.

We bought this for our catering company and it gets used many many times per day, everyday. There has been absolutely no issues with dullness, breaking, motor not keeping up. We've had it for over 2 years now and it just keeps on going without fault. It's so easy to take apart and clean. I bought 2 more, 1 for myself and 1 for my daughter-in-law.

I love this product. It is as described. I love how easy it is to assemble, use and clean. I always bought shredded cheese up until I got this. Now, I always buy blocks and shred my own because it is so easy. It makes dicing and slicing vegetables easy when making soups, salads etc.

Excelente producto. Me hace la vida más fácil. Andaba en búsqueda de algo que me ayudara a recortar tiempos. Deja la verdura fresca y de buen aspecto para ensaladas o guarnición.
