Awesome little tool
I got this because I'm putting in tile and I was having trouble getting the square drive screws to set properly in the backer board using my standard drill/driver. I fired this up and the screws went in so quick I had to be careful to not run them completely through the board. It was so much quicker and I didn't strip a single screw (I was averaging 1 of 5 stripped with the standard drill/driver using the same bit). I'm not just waxing effusive for no reason, this really made a difference when driving square drive screws and phillips screws and 2 and 1/2 inch lag bolts. I'm actually looking for things to drive in with this tool. The compact size is misleading as to the power the impact creates in driving screws/bolts, etc. Probably the most effective tool I own, except for maybe the recip saw. Only negative I've noticed so far is this drill eats batteries. If they won't hold a full charge, or aren't fully charged, it'll wear them out quick. Fully charged batteries last for 100 or so screws. A year later, still one of my favorite tools. The only reason it's not my absolute favorite is that I own a couple of Paslode cordless nailers. After using the pneumatic nailers, the cordless is so convenient and simple to use, it blows any others away. Still, this little bugger is a tough, hard-working bruiser of a tool. I've dropped it from 6 feet and dropped stuff on it and it still works great. You pull this out on a worksite and the other guys laugh at it because it looks like a toy, but start running 8 inch long 1/2 inch lag bolts into 100 year old wood without pre-drilling, they start asking questions like where can I get one of those. Impressive, powerful, fits into tight spaces, small enough your kids can use.

my other tools feel neglected now that i own this bad ma'amajama.
i grew up on construction sites and i have a shopping problem when it comes to tools. i can't believe it took me this long to add this to my collection. i've only had it a few weeks and it's more than earned it's keep so far. I'll list a pro/con. PROs: no more stripping heads of screws, short and fits in places drills will not, insane power for being a small cordless tool, impact tool so it will drive when drills & screwdrivers can't, variable speed trigger (torque drops and speed raises), can replace drill and cordless screwdrivers, so many bits available that you can do an amazing amount of work with this thing, it's small so it is super easy to carry on you. CONs: it's almost perfect so this is hard...if i could change one thing, i would like an adjustable torque so that the speed wasn't tied inversely to the torque. when you want to slow down to get a screw set just right, that jacks up the torque and you might set it a little lower than you would like. you won't strip screw heads but you can easily strip the material the screw is going into. this thing is so powerful you start thinking it can replace your impact wrench. that will work on small stuff but don't expect this tiny cordless tool to do the job of a good 1/2" plug-in impact wrench.

Great Tool - Go Screw Something
I couldn't be happier with this DeWalt Impact Driver DC825B, got the bare tool as I have lots of unused cases littering the garage, and quite a few batteries from all the other DeWalt Cordless Tools I have acquired over the years. I was impressed from the very first screws that I drove with this tool, 4" square drive deck screws into a tough old gnarly 4x4, it has plenty of power and the screws just disappeared into the wood with a constant speed with no bogging down. Also it has an LED to illuminate the work area if you use it in a low light situation, a very nice addition. It is compact, lightweight, and has a comfortable grip all important factors for extended use. I would recommend this tool to anyone who drives a lot of screws. This is not a one tool does all tool as it does not have an adjustable chuck like the cordless drills but a quick disconnect speed load chuck this is a thing to keep in mind if you can only afford one tool this is not for you, but on the other hand, if you want the best tool for the job and that is stuffing long screws into hard wood, go for this little beauty you will not be sorry.

Lots of power in a small package
Small and lightweight, but a very useful tool. The tool fits in tight spaces very well. Lots of torque and power for driving screws, drilling, installing/removing fasteners, etc. It even does the lug nuts on my vehicles which my air impact muddles through. The LED light is also plenty bright enough to see in very dark places. I recommend this tool as often as I can. It is one of the first tools out of the toolbox when I start in the morning. Update: I have had this tool a few months, now. I use it almost daily, and it stands up to the test. Still one of my favorites. DeWalt industrial grade tool for under $80 equals a no-brainer in my opinion. Update number 2: 6-1/2 years later and itโs still one of my favorite tools. Has never given me one single problem. Excellent quality.

Excellent Addition to 18v Cordless Dewalt Set
I'm not a huge Dewalt Tool Fan but it's what I started with (an initial 18-volt set I must maintain), nor do I imply they're the best brand. This Bare Tool DC825B is my latest addition. About It: 90-Day Money Back, a 1-Year Free Service Contract, and a 3-Year limited Warranty - that's above average CS for sure. "Made in Mexico"; 1/4" (6mm) Impact Driver, Type 3, 18v DC, is variable speed based on trigger pull @ 0-2400 RPM with 0-2700 impacts per minute; Magnesium gearset and tranny; user replaceable Motor Brushes; weighs only 2.2lbs (bare tool); yields 1,330 Inch Pounds = 111 Foot lbs - alot for a cordless tool of its compact size. Lots of torque for size but with a downside - torque's not fully controllable. Albeit small, this Impact Driver has wallop, I can easily over torque smaller size fastener. Now, by design, my amount of trigger pull does control RPM/IPM, so its torque (speed too) is somewhat controllable. Additionally, Dewalt has a Cutch/Torque Attachment P/N DWHJHLD - not sure how good it is however... It's a Quick Disconnect (QD) & Connect feature of a Cylindered Collet Slip Ring. Insertion of Hex bit does not require movement of Ring, just clicks in place with a push and locks firmly into position. Its Collet Slip Ring, 'spring loaded' to locked position is only required to be pulled forward upon Hex bit removal, then snaps back into locked position - quite neat design. Does have 'burnt electrical' smell for a while during first many uses (mine did). This annoyance could be different between new and rebuilt units, not sure - yet could explain varying reviews same topic. Its 'burnt electrical' smell will dissipate once broken-in (mine did), a length of time hedged on usage. In my case odor began to dissipate within three weeks of daily use. Battery life with a 3-4 y/o 18v XRP brick is good to excellent. Accepts 1/4" Hex bits/drills; 1/4" Hex to ratchet-type square drives, and 1/4" Universal Hex to whatever. Is a light bare tool yet battery attachment near doubles its weight as expected. I will strip head of a cross-tip (Phillip's head) fastener in blink of eye if not applying enough force to fastener head, happens frequently. If utilizing fasteners with Torx head, hex head, 12-pt head, internal wrenching, I'll not experience such head stripping. I'll go further and opine it's rare to strip head of fastener other than cross-tip however, it'll snap heads off easily, especially smaller type fasteners size #10 and smaller. Before I forget, a good quality 'Impact Bit' is similar in makeup as impact sockets...Try to locate those which claim forged (should say so on packaging) vs cast/machined, also be wary of 'cold forging' and note the higher their Carbon content the better. Impact sockets/bits are generally coated with black oxide and easy to distinguish, but be wary of low carbon content machined or cast knockoffs painted black. If building a Deck, wood Playhouse, performing repetitive fastening of nature this Driver will be your friend. I recommend TORX head-type fastener deck screws if building a deck or similar project and intend to use heavy-duty size steel/weatherproof Deck Screw fasteners. Torx head deck screws are a bit more pricey, but to me, they're well worth extra cost. If planning to drive Lag Bolt fasteners 5/16" or greater shank diameter and more than a ~ 4 inches in length such for heavy treated timbers - landscaping/fence type, I recommend searching for a more robust Impact Driver. The DC825 will handle most common heavy-duty Deck Screws with ease, but does not perform well driving 5/16" X 6" or larger lags without drilling pilot holes. In closing, if searching for a drill which will serve more than singular purpose of Impact, Dewalt and other equally reputable brands have many other Drills offering multiple features which will satisfy broad application. This cordless Impact Driver DC825 I find serves well as a light-to medium-duty Impact Driver. KR

Good tool
Overall I like Dewalt and this tool and would recommend to folks that desire pro grade tools. My only wish would be a speed selector. It has a variable speed trigger (squeeze easy and go slow, squeeze all and go fast) there just isn't much wiggle room between a little and full throttle. When you are in an awkward spot or pushing on a screw it can be hard to feather a trigger just right. It's a minor thing to over come and it has gotten easier to handle with time. Good balance and power, be cautious not to strip screws. With the correct "bit kit" this tool can do amazing things.

Awesome, awesome, awesome.
So much easier for driving fasteners than my DeWalt 18v drill/driver that it is astonishing. It is also much, much lighter and handier than my 18-volt drill. 4" deck screws, no pilot hole, full depth into treated lumber like butter. I prefer the star drive screws (T-20, T-25), but phillips-head screws go right in as well. So fast and easy it made me look at the relatively diminutive tool in my hand and giggle. No kick-back or torque goes back up through your hand, wrist or arm. I deal with chronic, on-again, off-again tendinitis in my dominant right hand and wrist. This tool nearly eliminates the stress on my tendons and joints while driving fasteners. I can work much longer and more efficiently allowing this tool to do the work. No "leaning in", pushing, or bracing the tool with both hands necessary. I love this thing so much I bought the DeWalt 1/2" 18-volt cordless impact driver (Amazon) as well. Added in a socket adapter set from Tekton (Amazon) and I am set to deal with most any fasteners I run into. If you drive fasteners often or in great amounts, you owe it to yourself to buy this tool.

The best impact driver.
I originally bought this driver as part of a kit last year. I never used it until my dad and I added an extension to the barn in last month. The old man brought out his old corded Crafsman drill(read BOAT ANCHOR) to drive the sheet metal screws. I used the DC825B. I was driving the screws so much faster that I finished my side(24'x20') before he was halfway done. I started on his side, but he said it was his and to go away. I offered up my Impact Driver. Holy cow was he impressed (not an easy task). Not only was it lighter, but it drives the screws perfectly. We used it to drive over 500 1-1/2" screws on a single charge with plenty charge left. Sadly I never got to touch the Impact Driver again once my dad got its hands on it. Thus the reason for purchase of the bare tool. We will be building a steel garage in the near future, and I know he will be Bogarting my Impact Driver. Great TOOL! Great Price!

Dependable tool!
This was a replacement for one I had for twelve years. The trigger finally gave up. I have remodeled three houses and had many other projects. This is one of my favourite tools. Great Product.

This is now my 1st reach handtool round the house
Why Why Why didn't I buy one before, I had the drill/driver right angled one and the standard drill. Great 18v tools I have used for 10+ years that are going strong, always wondered why I needed this... until I treated myself Brilliant, so good at removing those stubborn rusted screws in the garden etc as the hammer breaks the seal/rust lock prior to the screw ripping up When using on new kit, again the fixed tork prevents anything tearing up fixings

Awesome Little Tool
I bought one of these cause a buddy of mine has one and he liked his. It is an awesome driver, with tons of power. It also is light and fits into my hand really comfortably. Wish I would of had one years ago. Also it seems to be easy on the battery. I would highly recommend this Dewalt Driver!
