Upon unboxing the lock, I am sad to say the whole top portion of the lock was covered in a flaky white substance. Upon further inspection I discovered that batteries had been left in this product causing erosion to ruin the inside and out. I called Amazon Customer service and was told they can’t help me because this is a “Warehouse” item. The service agent sent me an email with a link to contact the warehouse. When you click “help me” on the link it states “Please contact Amazon Customer Service for help with this item.” Needless to say I will be very careful buying more expensive items from Amazon in the future, especially electronics (seriously who leaves old batteries in an electronic, someone who clearly didn’t grow up with a portable CD player that’s who). After extensive cleaning (RIP to my nails) I was able to remove most of the erosion (and paint and part of the serial number and a portion of the outer shell) to put batteries in the lock. So far so good in the working sense. Then comes time to set up my sensor, surprise surprise not all the pieces for install are there. The lock is super easy to set up (even if you have to make your own assembly pieces out of common household goods). ### ⭐⭐⭐ On my third one. *by N***K on Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2019* It has limitations.Problems:I purchased a “refurbished” on from amazon. It was used and returned in pretty rough condition. It was also not reset to original condition. So after installing I could not use the lock because it was still registered to a different owner. I called August who attempted to reach the old owner. After 72 hours they were suppose to reach back out to me. They never did. So I returned the “refurbished” unit.I purchased a new unit that was defective and killed the batteries every 3 days. So that was a expensive problem. I contacted August and they were better this time to send a replacement.Like a Previous photo review showed if you have a window around the lock there may not be enough room to install the lock.I’ve been using my new third lock now and it has been working well so far. But it’s been some what of a struggle to this point. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great but know it's limitations. *by R***1 on Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2019* I have two of these. They are well worth the money but you should know a few things. First, in order to access remotely (without being near the lock), you will need to buy the August Connect bridge. That allows you to connect your lock to your WiFi which let's you lock and unlock it from anywhere. Without it, you need to be in Bluetooth range. The second thing you need to know is that you can only connect one lock to a connect bridge. This means if you have 4 locks you want to access remotely, you need 4 connects. The last thing I would caution you about has to do with your current lock. Make sure you are able to lock and unlock your deadbolt EASILY with no resistance. This means without pushing the door forward, etc. Any resistance may cause your lock to not work.Ok. So far I have two of these and I plan to get another. I have one on my front door with the August Connect and one on my garage door without the August Connect. I never have any problems connecting to my front door. Sometimes the garage door takes a few trys to connect but I don't think it's ever taken me more than 30-40 seconds. I use the auto unlock feature on the garage door since that's where we park. It works 19/20 times.
