Review: Heavy duty - I bought these casters for my 200+ pound woodworking work bench. I tried my hand at making my own diy flip down casters and they worked ok but they always seemed flimsy. I finally got fed up and decided to buy these. Wow these casters are heavy duty. The wheels are nice and heavy duty. All of the steel is around 1/8” thick which makes them feel heavy and like they will last. Took about ten minutes to bolt on and they work awesome. Easy to lift the bench don’t feel flexing at all of mechanism when raising or lowering. The flip mechanism stays locked when it is up and all four swivels work awesome to allow me to easily move my heavy workbench around my small shop allowing me to make room for projects. I highly recommend these will last a long time and are not some cheap piece they are very well built. I will keep these in mind for future projects. Simply drill two pilot holes for each caster - one at 4 3/4 inches and one at 2 inches from the floor, screw in the mounts, add the casters and tighten the caster bolts. Done. Works perfectly. I am now able to move my old woodworking table made from a 2X4s and 4X4s which I beefed up and converted to a machining/sharpening/grinding/pounding on table easily around the shop. I added a sheet of 1 inch plywood left over from some barn flooring and added a scrap piece of 1/2 inch sheet of plywood as the top. Then added additional table braces and a lower shelf made from 2X6s. Added a Rockler vise and machinist vise on opposite corners along with an old saw horse vise at one end. It also holds a removable grinder and sharpening wheel that I store on the shelf underneath. This beefed up table is very heavy by design and I needed the flexibility to move it around shop - sometimes it needs to be out of the way of the wood shop area and I also needed the ability to move it outside. The Powertec casters work perfectly for this. I mounted them on the inside length of the bench - mounting the shelf 10 inches high to allow for the caster levers - and this way the casters are not in my way when I have the work table on all fours. A simple detail to consider, but important if you don't want to trip over the casters/levers. On the opposite side ,lower the caster before you make this move , mount the casters with the wheels barely touching the floor,( be sure to leave the casters in the lowered height). after the casters are mounted on this end, leaving them lowered, go to the other side and raise the equipment. At this point, you should see that both sides are raised when you have only raised one end, you should see the opposite end that you didn't raise will be barely off the ground, this allows a smooth move but a little higher on one end than the other, but, you wont have to be afraid of the lowest side dropping down because its already down, but, you can raise it is you need too. **Q: Do these need heavy foot pressure to lift a 200 lb workbench or can I actuate them by reaching under the workbench and using my hand?** A: I believe that you'd be lifting roughly half the bench weight, something close to 100#. I had problems with a heavier bench because when you activate one caster, that entire end of the bench comes off the floor. Although rated for 400 lb, my 320# bench bent the caster mount plate on two sets because half the bench's weight was being put on the first caster activated. It perhaps would have worked if I could have linked two casters and spread the load, or if the caster mount plate were made of stronger steel. It helps everything out if you help with lifting the bench, even slightly, while activating the lever with your foot. That would be hard to do if you are activating with your hand. **Q: I see these are often purchased with the Spacecare brand step down casters. Do these mounting plates fit those well?** A: The Spacecare 600 lb. casters use a smaller plate. However, the Workbench Casters from Peachtree work fine with these plates. **Q: Do these work with the Powertec 17000 casters?** A: don"t know for sure t about hey are made by same company they should but not knowing anything about 17000 casters i would text Powertec to find out for sure i used them with Rockler 2 3/8" urethane casters with a foot activated lift mechanism. if that is any use to you ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heavy duty *by A***R on October 16, 2018* I bought these casters for my 200+ pound woodworking work bench. They are taller than the wheels they replaced and so elevated the height of the bin to which they were attached.
