Midoriya inherits the superpower of the world’s greatest hero, but greatness won’t come easy. What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested superpowers called “Quirks”? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Being a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? The Hero Academy of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless? With All Might in retirement, Endeavor takes up the mantle of the number one hero, a position he’s coveted for years. But now that he has it, he’s not entirely comfortable with the responsibilities and risks that come with it—both heroes and villains are always gunning for number one. What does the future hold for Midoriya, and what do his dreams about One For All mean? Review: Number 1 Hero - "Oh no..." This was my reaction by the end of this volume. Right from the start we are presented with the conclusion of Deku's and Gentle Criminal's battle. Deku pulls out some amazing moves to finish the fight! We learn a bit more about his and La Brava's backstory and relationship.l Following this, we move on to the School Festival. I really didn't like it because I just don't care about it but it does give us funny interactions between the Class 1-A heros and we also get to see more of Eri. Issues 184 to 188 are all about the new Japanese Hero Billboard Chart which -as the synopsis of this volume states- shows us Endeavour obtaining position number 1. However, much more interesting (in my opinion at least) is the introduction of the Number 2 Hero known as Hawks. He is only 22 years old and already Number 2 but claims that he wants and I quote "I wanna make this world one where heroes have time to kill" and that he would much rather be ranked lower if possible so the spotlight isn't on him. Interesting attitude by someone who worked pretty hard to stand out like this, I like him already. Finally, we are shown a scene between Todoroki's mother and her son (Todoroki's brother) and daughter. They discuss something that hasn't been touched on since the time that Deku and Todoroki fought and I am really excited to see where this goes. During this time, Endeavour and Hawks are ambushed by a foe that we all thought to have been gone for good and then.... I finished the volume with the two words I started the review. My Hero Academia fans, pick this volume up! It is really good! Review: Great graphic novel - This graphic novel contains chapters No. 178 The Woman Called La Brava through No. 188 Your Father, the Number One Hero I highly recommend this manga as it has an incredible story, everything from the culmination of the Gentle and La Brava fight, through the school festival, to the first part of the Endeavor-High End Nomu fight. Many people think that MHA has lost its hype, especially with season 3 of the anime not delivering the way fans would've liked as far as pacing. However, I think that, with All Might's retirement, this novel begins to open up the future of the MHA universe with the ongoing struggles and roles of the top Heroes. What should a top hero represent in a post-All Might society? How will the heroes put an end to villains that only grow more powerful? These questions unfold in the readers' minds as UA's festival is threatened by Gentle Criminal and La Brava. The gravity of the need for these answers is reinforced during the release of the top heroes' rankings, where Hawks shares a worrisome viewpoint on the role of a hero. This uncomfortable event is followed with part one of a climactic battle between Endeavor and a High End Nomu that ends on a cliffhanger. I highly recommend this novel. The pace picks up once again. Happy readings!

Good Read - Encourages reading for older teens
My college student has been reading comics beginning with newspaper comics since we began to teach him how to read and advanced through schooling. We did this with all 4 of our children to encourage reading. Anime became a fixture with a couple of our kids, however, since my husband was also a fan, he would make sure they were appropriate for their ages and discussed the violence with them as they grew older. I'm not a fan of the violence nature of these series but my son is educated on the aspects or reasoning focusing on Super-HEROS & Super-SHEROS vs Villians in these books. The idea of these SuperBeings have crossovers in books created by authors creating their own concepts in different ethnicity and cultures, so I guess it has redeeming value.

Disappointed I recieved the product in a bent up mess. I love the series though and it was probably do to poor packaging.
