I can't secure the screw when the engraving is inserted, what am I doing wrong?

If you mean you can't secure the set screw when the "engraving tip" is inserted, consider the following. The tip should be sticking out about 3/8" to 7/16" if it's properly inserted. If it's sticking out more, it's not in, and you should back out the set screw a little more so the tip will go all the way in and seat in the holder. Make sure you use the Alan wrench that came with the engraver to tighten the set screw. If it still won't tighten, you may have a defective unit (engraving tip holder, set screw, set screw threads, etc) and you should go to the manufacturer's website for their contact information and see if they will help you. If you just purchased it, consider Amazon returns if the unit turns out to be defective and should be replaced.
