Sears Modern Homes, 1913 (Dover Architecture)

Makes a nice coffee table book. Information on the iconic Sears Roebuck houses is quite interesting. You can see how home design has evolved over time.

I live in a 1914 Sears house, one of four on our block. I have a bunch of Sears House books and I love to look at them. Sears houses are a part of US history and hopefully there are lots of years left before they all disappear.

This is a fun book to thumb through! its amazing how many homes you will recognize from your community! There are a lot of Sears homes where you live. The floor plans are interesting and can give good ideas for a new home if you want to go retro and cozy. The descriptions of each design are cute to read and they list communities where the homes have been sold! you may see the name of your town there. I highly recement this book to anyone interested in nostalgia of how things were, or fans of classic architecture!

Interesting book

Enjoyed looking at and reading about all the Sears homes as they were described in the original Sears catalog. Many classic designs that would look good if built today.

Book is a gift, so I didn't unwrap its plastic wrapping to look it over. The recipient will tell mne if it's not ok.

Found a house that was built in my town but was sadly destroyed to build a parking lot. But a great book

Take a first hand look at an American phenomenon-the kit house, sold through the Sears Co. These models were so well thought out and affordable ( usually built, at least in part, by the buyer) that they can still be seen in many parts of the country. I located the plan for the kit house I lived in for 20 years. At 95 years old, it was my favorite home.
