Simple and Very Consistent
Hamilton Beach is one of those brands with a lot of question marks, at least for me. I decided to write this review because this sandwich maker really outperforms my overall expectations. The videos in the ad are informative and accurate. I have used this to make about twenty breakfast sandwiches thus far and the only time things didn't work out were due to my errors. The total time from initial preheat, (3 minutes) to tasty breakfast is 8-12 minutes depending on your ingredients and tolerance for heated food. The egg can spill over some but the cleaning has been minimal. I have not had a sticking issue but I use a spray to make sure. I find a pair of silicone coated tongs work well to remove my sandwiches rather than a spatula. If you put meat in, the level may tilt and the egg may not spread evenly. It will cook but may leak through to the bottom. Again, not difficult to clean up. I have not used bacon, oooh, bacon!?! but I would not be surprised to see a greasy mess. I would probably use leftover bacon rather than fresh bacon. On that note, you MUST use cooked meats in this appliance. Most bacon is cured but will release a lot of grease. If I were to make an improvement, it would be to include an auto shut off. You need to be attentive to prevent an issue, but since I am usually hungry as a bear in the morning, I am drooling as I wait to hear that beep-beep saying it's breakfast time!! This is an inexpensive alternative to a drive-thru and will require as much time out of your day as waiting in line. Plus, you can make your coffee, or whatever you do, while you wait. unlike sitting in your car listening to traffic reports. LOL. Bottom line, if you are here, you want a way to make an easy breakfast. This is it, if you want an egg based sandwich. Dead short technology has been around way too long for there to be issues related to electrical reliability. I believe user care and the design which eliminates the potential to contaminate the circuitry from normal use is far more important than brand name on such a basic appliance. I wrote this review because I would buy it again for the same price, even if it fails within a few years. Why? Because it would most likely be my fault if it fails. For the small price compared to the drive -thru alternative, my break even is less than 10 trips to the clown show. UPDATE 11/2025 I have been enjoying this sandwich maker for a long time now, and I still find it to be as good today as the first day I used it. I mentioned above, that this brand leaves some questions, but at this point, it is a slam dunk. I have never had a problem with it, it has performed flawlessly, it is a great value and I just love it. Initially, I figured there were enough videos out there to explain all the features and functions, but after some time, I have learned a few things to share with all of you. Mainly, the incorporation of a wi-fi enabled outlet as shown in my video is a great way to ad a timer/switch to my/your routine. I set the outlet for 8-10 minutes, depending on what is in my sandwich, and initiate that process 10 minutes or so from the time I want to eat my breakfast. I prepare all of it the night before, usually with a frozen sausage patty to keep things cool overnight. I get up and go through my routine, and by the time it's all said and done, I am showered, have my coffee in hand, and my breakfast ready to go. This is such a time saver, and very reliable, that I have put a lot of effort into this review for your convenience and understanding, so you too, may enjoy such a wonderful appliance. I hope my pics and video helped you to undderstand in real life, what you are shopping for😀 I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it 😎 I sure hope you found this a help. Thanks👍🏼

Efficient and easy cleanup
This little machine is a time saver. It preheats quickly, and only takes 4-5 minutes to cook the sandwich. It's super easy to use and leaves little to no mess after it's done. You plug it in, let it preheat, when the green light turns on that means it's preheated. You add the bottom of the English muffin, place your cheese/meats/veggies on top, you pull down the top cylinder, slide in the egg tray, add the egg and then place the top half of the english muffin on top of the egg, close it and set the timer on the device and it beeps when the timer hits zero to let you know it's finished. Then you unplug it to stop it from heating (it does not automatically turn off when timer hits zero), then you slide out the egg tray and lift the two cylinders up and viola! You now have a perfectly cooked breakfast sandwich! Side note, in case you are curious, you need to add precooked meats to it, not raw meats. Bacon, ham and sausage all have precooked variants at the grocery store which will expedite the cooking process for you because you don't need to preheat it or cook the meat prior to cooking which will save time and reduce the cleanup afterwards. Egg leakage was minimal, and I'm pretty confident they little that came out it was from me feeling the need to adjust the tray while it was cooking. The only leakage I noticed was from using oil spray on it. The oil dripped when I lifted the top cylinder. It said to use the oil lightly if you did choose to use it, I definitely didn't use it lightly so that's more of a me issue. It's the perfect size machine, not too big and it's lighter than expected, so it's pretty easy to store away etc. The instruction manual is self explanatory, super easy to understand and gives you some trouble shooting advice incase you mess up somehow and it doesn't turn out how you anticipated. The only way I could see it not properly cooking the food is if you didn't let the machine preheat and you didn't set a timer. And again. I want to emphasize it's super easy to clean, the metal cylinders are also dishwasher safe. I would absolutely recommend this product for those who want a quick hot breakfast with very little cleanup required. And two recommended sauces, Cajun majo or salsa goes great with the egg sandwich and the best cheese to use with this is finely shredded mild cheddar! That's just my personal opinion though. Some people said it smells... I think that's probably because they didn't clean it before first use. I cleaned mine prior to using it and i don't smell anything. It functions well for what it is. And side note, if you have marble counters like I do, you may want to skip the spray oil or make sure it's a very small amount, because oil will destroy marble counters if you don't clean it instantly. The device is all non stick material so you really don't even need to use a non stick spray. Hope this helps!!! :) **Review update on 10/6/24, I've been using this daily. Still no leaks or issues and I've experimented with different English muffins and different meats etc and its made the sandwich perfectly each time. I do recommended toasting the English muffins first before putting them in this machine. But it will make it regardless it's just a matter of preference on how toasted you want the muffin. ***

Love this! Works great
Watched a few YouTube videos before I decided to purchase this. Was going to buy it as a Family Christmas gift but it never made it under the tree! We used it a couple days after we got it on the weekend. We bought a bunch of different things to try and our first run at it was very successful. We actually went on a shopping trip to buy a variety of things that could be used in it like precooked bacon, precooked sausage, chicken patties and ham, etc. We bought small burger buns which fit nicely in there as well as small frozen pancakes an English muffins. We tried out the chicken patties and cook those up first in the air fryer and then made the sandwich with the small hamburger buns, egg and American cheese. We added mayonnaise and pickles afterwards and that was really delicious. We also made some sausage muffins with egg and cheese as well. You can really creative variety of things. Some easier than others depending on how much time you want to put in. The meat needs to be precooked so I suggest buying things that are already precooked. If you're buying frozen items and have a air fryer that makes it a lot faster but it's definitely worth it! I think This would be also useful for brunch and lunch. Everything we made came out beautifully. I would suggest getting a spray variety of oil and use either a paper towel or brush to get all the areas. We had no problem at all with sticking. The only time we had an issue was when the ring plate for the egg was not all the way pushed to the side. If it's not completely push together the egg will just slip right out the crack, so make sure you have that in position correctly. The 5 minute timer was a little bit much so three minutes seem to actually do really well for us. It might take some trial and error but we only had one set that didn't come out perfectly which was when the timer was set for 5 minutes and when the egg slipped out the tiny crack that wasn't pushed all the way to line up with the ring. After that every other one came out absolutely perfect! The size of this is really nice. It looks a lot bigger in the pictures, but it is a nice compact size so it won't take up much room on a shelf or in a pantry. Super easy to clean up.

So close. Only 4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
At any time of day, I really enjoy eating foods that are labeled as breakfast foods. Hot breakfast foods can be very satisfying. They can be good for you depending on the ingredients, too! When I saw the Hamilton Beach Dual Breakfast Sandwich Maker on a ‘Reel’, I had to check it out. I was sold after a few hours with my usual excessive research, the only thing I had to really chose was did I want the single or the double sandwich maker? After a few minutes I decided to go with the dual unit. After all, I can make just one depending on my appetite and for a few more bucks it’s worth the investment. Besides, the price of going out to grab some breakfast is not as ‘cost effective’ as it used to be (and there is no need to crawl of out of the house after getting dressed, etc. etc. etc.). After the first use, I was certain I did not make a mistake. I can use the ingredients that I want instead of what they use at a restaurant or deli, which who knows what that could be. VERY easy to use. Just plug it in, and it starts warming automatically without turning on any switches. The preheating time is quick (about 3 minutes), which gives me time to get the ingredients ready to go. Pop the ingredients in the maker, set it for 5 minutes, and VIOLA! Breakfast is ready!!! (During my research I noted a few complaints about the raw egg flowing out of the sides. The reason for preheating is so the egg white starts to cook right away, thus sealing the edges.) Cleaning is simple. Wash the doodad that hold the ingredients in place and wipe down the heating surfaces with soapy water & rinse. Easy peasy. My favorite part about this is that I don’t have to cook over the stove and have to wait for the toaster to pop up. Basically, it’s a set & forget for whatever cook time is chosen (the unit continues to heat until its unplugged, so please do not totally forget it). The reasons I am only giving it 4.5 stars is for a few design flaws. #1. The cord is too short. It’s only 2 feet long, and I don’t have a ton of outlets & counterspace in my kitchen. Adding a foot or 2 would be preferable. #2. No place to wrap the cord when not in use. Perhaps placing notches on the back 2 feet would solve this issue. (I will say that there are very few appliances have a place to store the cord.) #3. No on/off switch/button. The first time I used it, I was so excited to eat breakfast from my new contraption, it wasn’t until I was done with breakfast that I realized that the unit was continuing to heat. Now that I know this, I unplug the unit when the sandwiches are done. Perhaps when the timer goes off the unit turns off at that time as well would be a solution. #4. As easy as it is to cleanup the heating surfaces, it would’ve been nice if these plates were removable so they can be taken off for a thorough washing & drying. I have another appliance that has removable plates which makes it nice to clean. I plan on getting some Silpat silicone mats and cutting a couple of customized mats to rectify this situation. 35. No cookbook, not even a pamphlet for recipes. My cooking skills are basically ‘That tastes good, lets add this, that & the other stuff’ type. I am always looking for new ideas & suggestions. The Hamilton Beach website does not have a simple ‘click here’ for recipes, which could be very helpful for their customers. All-in-all, I am very happy with this purchase. The issues are minimal, and breakfast is always tasty! If you’re on the fence about this and are hesitating, ask yourself a couple of questions: You like hot breakfast foods? You like to not have to crawl out of the house to grab breakfast (or meal)? You like saving $$$ by making it yourself? If you answered yes to at least 2 of these questions, buy the Hamilton Dual (or single if that’s all you need) Breakfast Sandwich Maker. I think you’ll be glad you did. Have a Great Day!

Really enjoying this double sandwich maker
Don't think I will ever eat a frozen breakfast sandwich again. For years I would buy frozen breakfast sandwiches and bowls and rotated them for breakfast but that was getting boring. I came across the Hamilton Beach Dual Breakfast Sandwich Maker while looking for an omelet maker and decided to give it a try. The sandwich maker is well made and the price is good. It is very easy to use and easy to clean. We have had it for six weeks now and use it every other day. I have made sandwiches for my wife and I using English muffins, biscuits or pancakes. I use either Canadian bacon or sausage patties with Colby Jack, Swiss or American cheese. TIPS: Although the finish is non-stick apply a light coat of cooking spray to the upper and lower plates as well as the rings an the egg tray then gently wide the cooking oil with a dry paper towel to spread it around more evenly. Only use silicone utensils like a spatula with this product so that you don't accidently scratch the surface. Never use anything metal. Make sure the green light is on before you start making the sandwich. When making the sandwiches cut the cheese to fit the lower bun and place the meat on the cheese before putting the lower part of the sandwich in the bottom ring. Lower the upper ring and make sure the egg trays are completely slid in place before putting an egg in each ring. Make sure the upper heat plate for the egg is level or the egg will tend to run to one side. Use a toothpick to break the yokes so that that are runny. Set the timer for 3 minutes then salt and pepper before lowering the lid. Use a little Cajun southern seasoning if you want to kick start the morning. When the timer goes off lift the lid and place the top bun on the egg. Close the lid and set the timer for two minutes. Unplug the sandwich maker and remove the sandwich as soon as the second timer goes off. The unit does not turn off by it's self. Let the unit cool then use a barely damp dish cloth to wipe the inside of the unit clean. Then use a barely damp paper towel to rinse all the parts. We haven't had issues with things sticking to the surface. I recently bought a second one so that we can keep on at our beach condo. Frozen sandwiches now taste like cardboard compared to the sandwiches I can make with this sandwich maker and it only takes two more minutes to make the sandwich as compared to heating up a frozen sandwich in the microwave.

Great product and it is better to get the double unit
This is great and the pictures online don't give it justice. This is a real heavy-duty unit. It doesn't take long to heat up. I got this so that when we miss the morning breakfast hours at a chicken restaurant we can make our own. I get an Egg White Grill sandwich which is a piece of grilled chicken on a toasted Classic English Muffin with egg whites and American cheese. So, my plan is to buy their grilled nuggets and keep them in the freezer and pull out 2-3 grilled chicken nuggets and make my own. A note the system instructions say to use only fresh egg white or whole eggs and not egg products and this is simple to just crack an egg or two into the egg well Update 3/24/2004 Here are some tips to mimic the restaurant with the M and the Arches or the chicken restaurant that closes on Sunday. 1. Start by taking your English muffin and split it apart and then place the pieces face down and toast the insides for about 5 minutes (this will vary on the brand you buy, due to the moisture content). Place the on the bottom burner inside the bottom rings and close the top during the 5 minutes. 1a. Do this for all of your muffins in a preparatory state and set them aside. 1b. DO NOT TOAST THE BOTTOMS - only toast the insides, because the top and the bottom will be toasted during the cooking process. 2. Now proceed to cook the sandwich. Placed your pre-toasted muffins in the holders. Bottom tray with your meat/cheese. Upper holder with your egg and close the lid. (To help stop the egg from seeping out, make sure to put the swing-out plate all the way over into the holder prior to pouring your whole egg or egg white (ONLY USE REAL EGG - don't use egg mixture. DO NOT PUT THE TOP PART OF THE MUFFIN IN JUST YET. 2a. You don't need to lightly coat the unit when you are prepping your muffins, but when you are cooking the egg, it is best to coat the top ring and the swing out plate with oil/butter to help remove the egg. I wiped mine with a wet cloth, so I coat them each time. If you just wipe with a dry cloth or paper towel, you may not have to coach it each time and you will have to periodically judge when you need to recoat. 2b. Make sure your meat is pre-cooked 3. I found that with either one egg or two five minutes on the timer works best. 4. When the timer is up, NOW PUT THE TOP MUFFIN on top of the cooked egg and cook for 1 minute. 4a. Place some margarine/butter on top muffin's inside after the minute is up. Even though, the prep adds some time, unless you pre do all of your muffins and keep in the freezer (make sure to bring to room temperature if you freeze the toasted muffin or you will have defeated all of your work). These steps help to give a consistently good sandwich and a sandwich that is not soggy. Use non metal utensils to help save the nonstick coating. If you use a whole egg, take non-metal utensil and pierce the yolk(s) Good luck and happy cooking

LOVE THIS BREAKFAST SANDWICH MAKER!
We love our new dual breakfast sandwich maker! We had a single one which was wearing out. When we saw this one, we knew it was going to be perfect and would make two breakfast sandwiches at once. It is easy to use -- just plug it in and wait for the "green light" to go on. Make sure you have everything ready to make your sandwich. Don't hesitate to purchase this. It is easy to clean.

Really good kitchen gadget
So I have my share of kitchen gadgets. They almost always end up in the basement or the garbage. I really like this breakfast sandwich maker, so hoping it does not suffer the same fate. If you use a tiny bit of cooking spray and spread it with a paper towel there is really no clean up other than wiping it down with a slightly soapy cloth and repeating with a clean moist cloth. The sandwiches are great. Really tasty and unlike a fast food place you can choose to add salt or not. I'd say you can make this breakfast sandwich as healthy as you want to be. One thing I would say is that the maker basically fuses the sandwich together so if you want ketchup or any other topic you need to add it at the beginning as I think you would make a mess to break apart the sandwich to add toppings I find 4.5 min cooking time is best.
