Kitchen Mama Auto Electric Can Opener, Red

Wow! W O W! Barely one- or no-hand operation! Broke both wrists, couldn't open anything. Dependent on others. With this, just set item on top of can (I could use my casted/splinted forearms) and it quickly lines itself up and begins cutting. Efficient and effective. Lid comes off with the device. No sharp edges. I work in a hospital rehabilitation department and have shared this (and other Kitchen Mama products) with the Occupational Therapy team. Would buy for a friend in need and will recommend ongoing. {Needed assist with initial battery installation)

Update 12-23-25: Well, it's been over two years since I purchased my Kitchen Mama can opener. I'm still using it almost every day and it works as well today as the day I first opened the box. I love this thing. It has helped make it easier to continue making healthy home cooked meals for my husband and I and I am very grateful to Kitchen Mama for helping make that happen. Every senior out there should have one of these. Edit 9-22-23: I have had this can opener for almost 3 months now and have used it almost every day. It is still working perfectly. I had to come back and add a comment. I see some reviews saying they the can opener leaves sharp edges. I have NEVER had a sharp edge left by this opener. I just set the opener on top of the can, press the button, and the can opener does the rest. Original review: Let me start by saying I PROMISE to come back and edit this review if ANY problems develop with this can opener in the next year. I am in my late 70s, in a wheelchair, and dealing with several different forms of painful arthritis. I still cook for myself and my husband and try to do as much "from scratch" as I can. That means I open cans on a pretty regular basis. My new Kitchen Mama electric can opener arrived today. I think the next sentence says a LOT. I opened the box, removed the can opener, cleaned it with a food safe disinfecting wipe, installed 4 AA batteries, set a standard size can of chick peas on the counter, set the can opener down on top of the can, pressed the button, and the can open started rotating around the top of the can. THAT'S IT!!! I didn't have to fidget with positioning. I just sat it on top of the lid with the can opening part where I thought it should sit. The can opener does continue to rotate around the lid even after it has completely cut the lid BUT you do hear a difference in sound once the lid has been completely severed. I pressed the on/off button again and the can opener stopped. I removed the can opener and then lifted the lid off. No sharp edges, no muss, no fuss. I have only opened several different sized cans before writing this review which is why I promised to come back and report if any problems develop. This can opener is a life changer for me in the kitchen. I had gotten to the point where I had to get my husband to help me remove lids on cans because it was just too painful for me to do myself. This can opener is everything I hoped it would be and more. Now I just hope it continues to work as fantastically as it does right now. I LOVE THIS THING!!! My aging in place kitchen is just about complete. I have several reacher grabbers, 2 wonderful basket air fryers, a 6 quart Instant Pot, and the best can opener I could ever ask for. Now I just need to find the perfect affordable opener for lids on jars, and an easy to use lemon juicer.

sometimes creates small metal splinters that stick off the side of the can, then when lifting the top off that splinter will cut you. Not deep but a painful surprise. It's happened enough times I don't try to remove the top by hand. Usually it works well enough but sometimes doesn't open the cans unless allowed to go around several times. The magnet almost never removes the top. I found the easiest way is to squeeze the top together slightly which deforms the top of the cans separating the top from the can. But be careful because there could still be a metal splinter somewhere holding the top to the can which will cut you. Some normal sized cans this just doesn't open and will still need an manual can opener. Over all it's nice if remember to watch out for metal splinters. I often put it on a can to open and will do something else like prepare other ingredients while it spins around. Then for a can it doesn't fully open I finish it with a regular can opener. I would say it works about 90% of the time if allowed to go around the can at least twice.

This can opener is Fabulous! Cuts clean with no sharp edges on the can or lid! Much quieter than the last Toucan can opener I had. So glad I switched to the Kitchen Mama. This can opener is so easy to use. Just place it on the top of a can, slide it to the edge and push the start button. Can opener runs until you push the button a second time and stops. When you lift the can opener off the can a magnet on the underside lifts the lid when you remove the opener. Easy to store, fits in a kitchen drawer and clean up is easy with a disinfectant wipe. I highly recommend this can opener!

Works like magic. My regular can opener is so hard to use due to arthritis in my hands. This is so easy to use. Small enough to fit in a drawer.

Bought it so my mom and grandma could use it since sometimes they can't open cans that are too hard to open, it works amazingly with different types of cans, also it is pretty safe, hard to mess up with this one. It doesn't leave sharp edges in the cans, it is very stable even in small cans, its size its just right

Update. Seller is working with me to make this right. Good customer service goes a long way with situations like a product not working. I didn't think much would or could be done since I was outside of return policy. Updated review to reflect the effort. Bought in January. Didn't use until March. Already stopped working out of nowhere. Is not a battery issue. Waste of money so far

Por el momento ha sido una buena experiencia. Tenía mis dudas por no ver opiniones de México, pero me ha funcionado como promete. Algunas veces no abre bien una lata, pero se soluciona facil al poner nuevamente el abrelatas en la sección que no se termino de cortar y listo (tener cuidado que no de vueltas de más porque puede dejar "pelitos" del aluminio, no me ha pasado, pero es lo que recomiendan). Apróximadamente he abierto unas 20 latas desde que lo tengo, actualizare si me llega a fallar o me causa algún inconveniente. El material es aceptable, se siente resistente para algunas caidas y el uso es bastante sencillo. Realmente no deja partes afiladas ni en la lata, ni en la sección que se desprende.
