With the double whammy, I am pairing the designs with my somewhat experience with customizing the adjustments to adapt to my American, older body and overall size. As she is Japanese, Asian women are traditionally smaller in size and dimensions. So her patterns would not match me. So, I have experience to expand and personally customizing patterns, made by Vogue, Simplicity and occasionally McCalls. I adore her styles and look forward to making her pieces. Super happy to have found her book of designs. Bought some Swedish transfer paper to take theese patterns and upside and personalize. Want to buy her purse pattern book if she ever rolls out with that ... Cuz I adore her handbags!!! Found an American importer of her fabrics and will be buying her fabrics .... Time to up my fashion senses and style. Hope others buy this because this gal "has it going on". I also like Danish, Swedish clothes designers. They have super style sense! Also like period clothing styles of world wide cultures. Seems everyone has great things to personalize and alter in fashion design. Super happy with the book! You will too. Been following this clothes designer here in America.
Because her clothes designs are so wonderful, I adore her work and she also designs fashion fabrics, I bought this book. Good designs and full size patterns
Always love her books with full size patterns. The designs are very comfortable to wear.

Beautiful book, non-inclusive size range
Love the style of these patterns and the photography in the book is beautifully done. However, I cannot give a full five stars because of the non-inclusive size chart. Some of these patterns are very oversized so I am sure they will work well. However, since my hips fall out of the top range of the size chart (41 1/4'' is the top hip size), I cannot use all of the patterns without modifications. Just something to keep in mind before you purchase.

Well Drafted Patterns
I have made several things from this book. The patterns are carefully drafted, so if you add the specified seam allowance when making your pattern and cutting your fabric, then follow the directions, the piece will go together perfectly. The directions are detailed and good, and the finished garments look well made. Be aware that an American medium is very different from Japanese medium. I love this designer and look forward to making more clothing from her books.

Timeless Japanese styling
The book is well illustrated, the English translation adequate and the patterns were intact in an envelope in the back. I haven't made up anything yet, but did look through the instructions which seem clear and easy to understand. The pattern pieces should be traced and seam allowances added. Unlike some Japanese sewing books with patterns, these somewhat oversized designs should fit "western" bodies better. There are charts to help with dimensions and fitting. As for lengths, I suggest checking and measuring as Americans are generally taller than the average Japanese female.

If you have experiences with Fibre Mood or Burda Style Magazine this will be easy.
This is a book of "easy to sew patterns" however not as easy as buying a pattern from the store. For reference to new sewers, unlike Simplicity or other store-bought patterns, the pattern pieces are graphed out in different colors and line styles. You must use the instructions to locate the pattern. Then you use tracing paper or tissue paper to trace the pattern and add the seam allowance to each piece. Instructions and pattern layout are clear, but you do need to read and use your noggin. Consider it up-skilling your sewing game. I recommend starting with something simple like the hat. To see how it works and how she writes and gives instructions. That is where I started, and it took me 2 hours from start to finish. Also, go to youtube when struggling, There are helpful videos posted from other sewers using the book. I think her IG or "Japanese sewing studio" IG? Do host sew-alongs? with content on how to sew specific patters as well as teach you how to find and trace the patterns. For reference, I started learning to sew with Burda Magazine, so this book was a breeze. I consider myself an intermediate sewer.

Beautiful clothes and larger-than-expected sizing
Beautiful book with oversized garments that showcase gorgeous fabrics with simple lines. I've made the Tapered Trousers, long pleated work dress and am about to make the linen coat. The instructions are excellent - I love the illustrative Japanese style - and simple: just don't forget to add on seam allowance! A note about sizing: I have a 44" bust and 46" hips and have used the second from largest size so far (not even the largest) which fits well. The clothes really are oversized, so the sizing range is more inclusive than it appears.

.. My take on the product - the quality of the book itself is very good . There are 18 simple, elegant , easy to sew designs inside with beautifully shot and high quality pics . The pictorial depiction of how to sew the garment pages are also clean and easy to understand. My issue is with the patterns pages . They have printed patterns on both sides of the pattern paper . Don’t know if it is the Norm as this is my first physical purchase of patterns. Generally I buy digital where I download patterns for each design individually. They all come with size gradation unless you buy for an individual size . So now I am thinking how to trace as I planned to use almost all the patterns . Any method I use , will leave some kind of mark on the back side where that will leave some kind of marks . Which will make the already cluttered patterns even more confusing.. It is already cluttered with all the patterns from 18 designs ( I understand that some patterns can be used in multiple designs ) on 3 pattern pages . So , I do not recommend this for people who are just starting out with ready made patterns ..For them I recommend to buy online digital patterns that are for single design. This is now going to be a nightmare for me to read , trace and cut . I had planned to do at least 2 sizes from at least 6 designs . Imagine my pain now . Hope this helps .

I like the layout and the photos. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Just be aware that the sizes are given by slim oriental figures so the note to take your own measurements is good advice. Looking forward to trying more designs.

What a great book! I have made the pleated tunic dress and currently working on the everyday jumpsuit. It is really well explained and I really enjoy sewing these clothes. Accessible to beginners for certain garments.
