Does not work if your downstream device is a switch
I have a somewhat complicated home network with 8-port 1GIG switches in each of three buildings. My garage building requires a total cable run of about 300ft from the main communications panel that contains the DSL router and 8-port switch for the house. Where the cable exists the house to the communications panel in the garage building is about 150ft. I had a Miracles Cuddy PoE extender where the cable exited the house and it worked fine until lightening struck a tree in my yard. This fried two of my switches and the PoE extender. I ordered this extender because Amazon offered overnight delivery. Unfortunately that was a mistake because this extender does not work when the downstream device is another switch. If I plugged the the cable at the termination point on the output side of the extender into a device such as a laptop or TV, it worked fine. But if I plugged it into a another Ethernet switch, there was no communication. It appears that this extender somehow prevents the port negotiation between the ports in the switches.

Works for problem connection IP Cameras.
I have a Reolink 811a that kept dropping the network connection. I replaced the Reolink camera with another one and it worked fine. Reolink replaced the 811a and the new one had the same issue. Cable was NEW, solid copper about 150 feet. Reolink says the 811a should work fine up to 262 feet. Long story short.... Paid $19.00 to try a PoE Extender and the Reolink camera works fine with the Extender. Zero connection drops. So if you have a connection issue, I would suggest trying a PoE Extender. I already ordered a spare to use if I run into this issue again. NOTE: Reolink told me they would refund my money... Still waiting.

Does help BUT?
I hooked this up not thinking for the price it would help my 200โ cat6 Reolink Duo camera to stay connected. It absolutely helped with that issue and video quality was even improved and I was thrilled for 18 days. Then lost camera connection and come to find out this extender was dead. Not sure why it happened we did have some storms but highly unlikely that was the issue. Anyway I am giving it one more chance and ordered another one which was supposed to be here yesterday but some how it was delivered to the wrong location and most likely to never be heard from again! I will say this, if I get another one and it dies I will write a very nasty review so stay tuned!

Great value
Donโt bother with an expensive waterproof extender. Get this instead along with a cheap waterproof junction box. You will save a lot of many and never have to worry about rain ruining your connection. I have two 300 ft cat 5 cables connected with this extender and the POE signal is great.

50/50 shot of these working for more than a month
I've ordered about 20 of these in the last year for camera systems, half of them from this specific seller. About the same amount the year before. They are all low quality, no matter who's selling them, and my experience has been about a 50% failure rate within the first month or so. It doesn't matter if they are installed indoors or outdoors in a weatherproof box, it's still a toss up if you'll be replacing them again soon. The problem I have, is that I haven't found a better alternative. Higher quality products I've tried haven't had much better replacement rates, they just have better exteriors and cost more to replace.
