The two 6oz containers -- would they be enough to fill gaps that are, in total, about the volume of a softball?** A: This is an educated guess but I'm thinking you would come up a bit short. If you would need just that much or a bit more I don't think the 6 oz containers will do it. If you need a bit less than a softball size, you might make it happen. Keep in mind that once mixed you have to apply it within a certain period of time. For each application I applied it, there was some that was wasted as I filled the voids and then removed the excess. **Q: the bottom horizontal part of my window sash has rotted, just on the ends. will this stuff work and how do I get it to stay on and not drip out** A: Hopefully the prior answer went out to you. In brief. Take out all the rotted wood. To be especially safe put in a few small flat head steel wood screws so the heads are well below the finished surface and undermine some small holes with a 1/8th inch drill. To support the bottom put saran wrap over a thin sheet of plywood or a roofing shingle and clamp or screw it in place. That should keep the support from sticking. Plan 24-48 hours for it to become workable. Depending on your temperature. I used it indoors and the temp was about 70 degrees. Test it for workability after 24-30 hours. It is really stiff when it goes on and I was really suprised at how well it worked in adhering to oak. The last church pew I repaired, I only roughened the surface of the wood and drilled a few holes. I worked it to shape with wood chisels, very sharp, and a sanding block Initially use a course paper, then work down as you get closer to the finished surface. I was putting in wood grain and matching 3 different colors in the oak, and really had no problems. I was very pleased with the product. Incidentally this church had been told the problem was not fixable. **Q: What about staining?** A: Yes stains do hold to it **Q: can I use this outside if the temp is under 50 degrees?** A: I have not had a problem but your question is not very clear. Once out is is very soft and mixes well together. It is easy to apply and seems quite hard when set properly. I can not yet vouch for the longevity as I have only had it about a week.
