I have over 200' of gutters around my house perimeter, with a combination of live oak, water oak, and magnolia trees dumping leaves. The oak flower in the Spring is particularly pernicious and the water oak leaves can get through the small openings in many types of gutter guards. Moreover, squirrels like to run along my gutters and from past experience will push in most of the low budget types of guards. I've tried them all, which led me to this type. These are completely successful keeping roof particles, oak flower, and water oak leaves out of my gutters. Once installed a simple brushing removes any debris that manages to accumulate on top of them (a mail in coupon nets you a free brush). They are also considerably more rugged than the plastic or aluminum mesh ones I've tried previously. Professional reviews and Consumer Reports all favor this type of gutter guard, both for functionality and for durability. I can attest that they live up to the hype and make an attractive installation. The cost is a bit more than $2 per foot, but is a fraction of what a professional installation would cost. Each package has 12 4' (actually 47") sections. Each section is formed as a stainless steel fine mesh screen sandwiched between two aluminum rails, one of which has a T cross section to butt nicely against the front lip of the standard 5" gutter. The construction quality is impressive. The package includes about 50 self-tapping screws and a nut driver socket.The sections are surprisingly rigid, a testament to the quality of the mesh. Difficulty of installation depends on your gutters, easy for gutters attached to a fascia board in standard fashion, more difficult if you have to bend up the the back of each guard to fit your particular gutter installation. Trimming requires a hacksaw to cut through the rails, and either heavy scissors or tin snips to cut the mesh. Fortunately, trimming is only needed where you reach the end of a gutter or around a corner. You also need a drill to install the screws. The mesh has been formed to have small ridges, which helps water sink into the gutter while making the mesh rigid. A small amount of mesh extends off each end for closing off the gap between sections, probably the weakest aspect of the design since the overlap can catch debris.My experience in installing these is that it is non-trivial but straight forward. Bending the mesh as described in the directions slowed me down, a lot. Over 100' of my installation is non-standard, with gutters attached under a 1x2" bumper on the fascia board. That meant I had to bend up the back edge of each section close to the back rail so I could attach it to the bumper. The bending requires some muscle because the mesh is tough stuff. It worked, but is an example of the kind of creative modification needed if your gutter is not a standard installation. A pamphlet comes with the gutters that suggests bends to fit a number of non-standard installations, one of which is the one I just described. If you find yourself a few feet short as I did, you can order single 3' sections of the same gutter from Home Depot for a comparable price.This is a 5 star product because it is effective, durable, and rugged. My only criticism is that it would be nice if the company devised a neater way to join sections rather than just overlapping the screening.

We installed about 180 feet of Raptor Gutter Guards on our two-story home with a typical shingle roof. I would describe the facade as Victorian style with a porch and multiple peaks at different pitches. This was a two man, two day job.I'll start by saying the quality and design of the Raptor guards is very good! The only thing that would have made the design better imo, would be if there were pre-drilled holes. The provided self-tapping screws don't need guide holes, but it would have helped when working two-stories up on an extension ladder and reaching to drive in the screws.The installation instructions (both printed and video) are easy to understand and adequate to do the job. But they're not perfect. I would say there were two rather major discrepancies;First, the instructions imply you can use "tin snips" to cut the guards. While in theory this may be true, we tried two pairs of aviation snips (one standard and one professional grade self-sharpening) and found the medal frame was extremely difficult to cut through and tended to mangle the edge. We gave up after one test cut and switched to using a miter saw with an appropriate (high tooth count) blade. This cut the guards like butter. We also used a jigsaw for some cuts.The second issue with the instructions is how they suggest bending the screen; using two long pieces of wood with clamps at each end. This is total overkill! The screens can easily be bent with a single piece of wood held with your hand on top of the screen (while on the grass) and bent with your other hand. You can even bend the screen for minor adjustments using your hands and body, even while up on the ladder. It may not be perfect or totally straight, but it will get the job done. And believe me, you will need to make minor bends in the screens as you go.Lastly I'd mention that description of this product lists each box as containing 48 linear feet (12 pieces, 48 inches each). This is not entirely accurate; the leading metal edge is only 47 inches long with about a 1/2 inch of screen sticking out on each side to handle the overlap. So, if you butt the pieces tight together, each box would only provide 47 linear feet, one foot less then described. Not really a big deal, but still a bit misleading.Overall we are very satisfied with the product and so far it's performed extremely well! Even though the installation was more difficult than expected, we still give the Raptor Gutter Guards five stars.

The Pros: The Raptor gutter gaurds are easy to install. They do handle torential amounts or rain without any overflow. The instructions provided give all the information necessary for installation.The Cons: As others have mentioned the packaging leaves a little to be desired. The mesh ends get bent and require straightening before using or you will not get the overlap necessary on installation. Some of the Aluminum attach strips get bent in shipping also. Those problems can be resolved with a little extra time and patience. What really was upsetting was if you follow the instructions there were not enough screws in the kit. The instructrions say to attach each section with 3 screws to the fascia and 3 screws to the gutter. There are twelve sections to a box so with six screws per section at the least there should be 72 screws. The kits I received came with 43 screws. Not enough to do 4 screws per section yet alone the 6 as the instruction state. Luckily I ordered an extra kit and was able to complete the installation.Besides that they work great and are worth the money spent. Even if you have to buy extra screws.

Put on older home with metal roof and aged style 5" residential gutters, also a metal roof shop with old style, heavy duty gutters. Both fit great, work great. I took time to carefully straighten any damaged areas, secure any loose hangers, etc. But once the pre-work was done, the installation went quickly and smoothly. A few ends needed cut and screen trimmed and/or bent to cover open areas at end of a gutter but the instructions were adequate for this as well as the basic gutter installation. Not a bit of debris gets in, water goes through, and after 6 months, the top of the gutter guards was still clear of debris. Picture is from day of installation on the residential gutters. I'm 72 and had no problem putting them on. My shop has two trees by it that shed lots of stuff, house a bit less, but plenty, so I looked around quite a bit before settling on this style and brand of gutter covers. Very pleased.

The quality of these gutter guards is exceptional. I have no doubt that the ones I've installed will last well beyond the time I will move on from this home. I also got really lucky with my purchase and got these at about 25% off with an Amazon "deal of the day." There were a few things that I ran into with my installation which are probably not typical:1) my gutters are steel, not aluminum. Therefore, the self-tapping screws, which are a great idea, were not self-tapping for me. I was forced to pre-drill all of the holes and then drive the included screws. This worked fine. I just needed a dedicated drill on my ladder along with my driver.2) the straps which support my gutters attach very near the top of the rim at the front of the gutters where the frame of the Raptor Guards is also supposed to lay. Because of this I ended up with bumps everywhere there was strap attachment since there was a screw already there attaching the strap. If I had had more time, I could have notched each front frame of the guards to fit around/over these attachments with a hacksaw. I didn't really see any additional benefit other than how they look looking down the line, which cannot be seen from the ground, lol. You can see the bumps in my second attached pic.A recommendation that I would make to the manufacturer would be to fabricate the guards with a built in overlap of mesh only, about 3/8" or so, on every guard. Also trim the front and back frames square. I could see no point in the rear frame being shorter than the front, on every piece. I ended up trimming every piece to be square and with the same mesh overlap on the right-side end. This only took me about 15-20 minutes with a good pair of snips and my hacksaw. After pre-trimming all pieces, and then realizing I needed to pre-drill the holes, installation went very fast. First pic attached provides a nice view down the line.Finally, my biggest concern with any gutter guard at my current home will be how they perform under the incredible onslaught of debris produced by the cottonwood trees all around our house. They not only produce copious cotton in mid summer, but huge pollen stems early summer, and prior to that, some sticky husks which I believe the pollen stems sprout from. So they are a mess. And that's not even thinking about all the leaves they produce. But the leaves are easy. Only time will tell if these guards will not foul with fine (cotton) or sticky debris and be difficult to clean. I plan to keep on top of them with a quick brush off on a regular basis. This is a simple maintenance task compared to the previous job of scooping out fetid mush from the gutters every three or four weeks. And I know I don't have to worry about these guards disintegrating after a couple of years in the sun like the cheap ones I last bought at a popular home improvement warehouse.Bottom line: I have high expectations of these guards. They are made to last, high quality, and with a little work on the installer's part, can be put in place relatively quickly. With my experience to date, I definitely recommend. If I remember to, I will try to update again in a year after a full season of cottonwood debris!

I did a lot of research and also compared pricing for having gutter guards installed.I no longer find climbing a ladder to clean gutters as fun as I used to.The Raptor Gutter Guard product looked like something I could do myself as a one last time tribute to the ladder climb.I needed 49' and the description says 48' "nominal". Just so you know "nominal" means something short of 48'. I had a few 6" pieced from the sample kit and thought I could use them to get my extra foot. Nope.The good news is that the customer support is amazing. Yes amazing. I spoke with Donna, had a lovely conversation and ordered one more 4' guard. It shipped out quickly and I got it in time to install before the next big storm.I already see little leaves and pine needles on top vs. in the gutter. If you register your product, you can get the gutter brush for the cost of shipping. I plan on using it to sweep off the gutter guard top if/when necessary, from the safety of two feet on the ground.The real test will be this fall when the leaves fall, but I have a feeling that these are going to work really well.They were really easy to install. I use the tin snips just fine to cut. You can't cut it all at once, just a small snip at a time. I also measured and predrilled the holes in the gutter guard, so the self-tapping screws only had to self-tap the gutter.I used both Option 1 and 2 as I had two different types of roofs. One shingle and one metal.You can see from my photo that I bent the guard up vs. down. If fits smugly under the metal roof overhand.I bent the mesh against a ruler vs. the method described in Option 2. It worked fine.You really need to wear gloves as suggested. I forgot to put them back on once and sure enough I was reminded why they are listed under the "recommended tools".All in all, a great product, easy to install, and great support.

Researched many different options for covers. Our home has evergreens with needles and hard woods with annual seed and leaf fall issue to deal with. I'm getting older and am looking to limit the use of ladders around our home.Enter this great product! Blew out the gutters as the install progressed. The install was easy, sliding under the shingles and having a formed aluminum edge that fits well against the front edge of the gutter. The sections have enough mesh material at each end that it nicely overlaps each added section giving a fine finished appearance. Also included with each box ordered is a nice driver socket and sheet metal screws for mounting the covers to the gutters.So far, the pine needles have not been an issue UPDATE : It's been more than half a year since install and the needles do end up sticking into the mesh but the majority of them do not. Used to be that I had gutter sections completely full of needles. No more! They provide a link at the web site for a good brush that can be used to brush off the mesh, this has been working well. You pay shipping and they try and get you to buy an extending handle for the brush which I passed on. An old screw end wood handle will work just fine. Our home is a ranch so I have been able to keep the covers clean from the ground.Only negative I have is that the build quality for the covers is good enough that cutting the formed aluminum edges to fit the gutter lengths can be a challenge as regular aviation snips were not hefty enough. Ended up using tin snips. A hack saw might also work well.I highly recommend this brand for the quality and design of the covers. Being stainless, they should be the last gutter covers you will need, requiring only minor maintenance to keep that water flowing!

Wasn’t sure how easy this would go on…as I am not very handy. Goes in quickly, and just ordered more for the rest of my gutters. I did not screw them in, just clicked them in and they mostly stay where I put them.

This is the best gutter guard I have ever tried. We have pines on our yard that clogged every other guard I tried. Raptor did the trick. I only have to go on to the roof once a year now. Before, it was every week.

First of all, I was eyeballing these exact gutter guards when they were $169 apiece however, when they showed up being 40% off I grabbed them ASAP. They were described as being used but in good condition. They did not disappoint. I could tell that somebody had tried installing them as there were some scratch marks on the aluminum edges. However, this has zero impact on overall quality. The most difficult thing about these is actually installing them depending on the type of roof you have. As you can see, my roof is a metal seam roof, which offers very little flexibility, my first piece took me 40 minutes to install and by the time I got to the last four or five pieces each piece took me about 5 to 10 minutes apiece. The hardest part was trying to tuck the one edge underneath my metal roof. This required a lot of patience. If you are installing these on a shingled roof, I would imagine it would be a lot easier especially if your shingles have some flexibility left in them.

I ordered two boxes (96') of the 5" raptor gutter guards to try out before committing to do all of the gutters. They arrived in good condition, came with installation instructions and more than enough screws. Installation was pretty straight forward as far as the steps required, but working aloft and getting the rear edge of the guard under the shingles and at the back of the gutter against the fascia was a little more challenging, but not something that the average DIY'er couldn't do.You don't need a vise and two straight edges to fold the guard as it says in the instructions, just use any straight 5' surface like a table or work bench to fold the fascia facing end over to almost 90°. I used our 4' brick sill around the perimeter of the house, it was perfect no measurement required. See photos.Although they tell you to wear gloves, probably because of liability, I found it more useful to just use bare hands carefully. The gloves would get caught and became cumbersome. The cut mesh is the thing to be most careful of.I would've given the gutter guards 5 stars, but for the cost. I can't believe that the raptor gutter guards, as well as the other recommended brands out there, cost a great deal to make. I guess they can charge alot because in the end the cost of going up and down a ladder twice a year and the risk associated with it, which gets worse as you age, ultimately costs more. I still think the margin is too high.I've included a photo of an installed section and it's already doing the job. I've ordered another 4 boxes to finish the job.Overall I would recommend this product due to its relative ease of installation and lower cost compared to the more expensive options like Waterlock and Leaf Filter.

i installed in 2 locations & is working well. Prevents shingle granules from clogging gutters. An inverted sweep brush allows easy cleaning from ground.

I just installed these guards on my entire house, it was an easy job and knowing I'll never have to climb up and empty out my gutters again was worth the time and money. I installed them on my shed a year ago as a test, and they passed with flying colors.
