Hesitant at first, No regrets in the end
I planned on buying an aftermarket miter gauge when I bought a table saw, and a day after I ordered the saw, it went on sale so I requested and received a refund for a couple hundred bucks. Since I considered that money already spent, I decided to buy an even better miter gauge than originally planned. Best decision ever. I looked at specs and reviews, handled them in shops, and decided on this Incra 1000 SE, also on sale at the time. I really didn't think I needed or would ever utilize its capabilities, but boy was I wrong. Could I have gotten along just fine with a lesser capable one? Sure. You likely can too. But I guarantee that if you have it, you will make good use of it. Pros: well built and heavy duty. Seems well thought out, and provides adjustment capability in all planes, ensuring a high level of accuracy. Not stupidly overengineered, complicated or bulky, like some high end ones are. Easy to use; I only read the instructions once before initial use. The telescoping fence is rigid even at full extension, and the stop block has no slop, making repeated cuts spot on. Cons: it could benefit from a longer miter bar, as the deepest workpiece it'll accommodate in my saw (end of the miter bar just a few inches in the miter slot at the table's front) is about 16 or so inches. Once you pull it back far enough anyway that the fence comes off the front of the table, the fence wants to rotate sideways, creating a dangerous situation. I built an extension that slips on the front fence rail that supports the miter gauge's fence to prevent this. A spot to hold the ball-end tool on the fence back somehow would be a bonus, keeping everything you need self-contained. All in all, I'm very happy with it. This one looks to me like it's the best choice for quality, ease-of-use, and durability among the precision miter gauges, even better than other more expensive Incra models. To be sure, it's a fairly big investment, and probably not an easy decision. But if you don't already have specific jigs and a crosscut sled and could benefit from the accuracy and repeatability this provides, you could certainly do worse than taking the plunge on it.

Great addition to my table saw but initial setup is key
Well thought and well made product. I haven't had a chance to use this much yet but I did make a few test cuts to verify assembly. Miter gauge was adjusted (square) right out of the box. The miter slot adjustment was a little tricky because I failed to read through the ENTIRE instructions prior to starting. There was an extra page in the instruction book that details the different configurations for the miter bar depending on the width of your slot, so be sure to read that and if you have a vernier caliper, use that to measure your slot before you start. This will save you some trial an error. Make certain your miter slot is clean and free of any rust on the sides. Initially, the Teflon expansion disks didn't want to expand when tightening down the screws, a little shot of WD-40 on each one made them work as they should. The aluminum fence is very sturdy and the flip stop feature is borderline genius. I didn't realize until I assembled this that it has a micro-adjustment feature that allows you to really dial in your setup. You can add a zero-clearance sub-fence to this as well and the flip stop can be moved to accommodate. To sum it up, this is a great addition to my table saw and is most likely to take the place of my miter saw for woodworking applications where I need accurate and repeatable cuts. Be sure to read through the ENTIRE instruction manual, check out some videos on YouTube and set aside ample time to assemble and set this up. It doesn't take long, but you don't want to be rushed.

Well made miter gauge (use grease when adjusting miter slot!)
ORIGINAL 4 STAR REVIEW - UPDATE TO FIVE STAR BELOW: I really love the design of this miter gauge, it is well built and well engineered except one facet, the miter slot adjustment is completely ineffective. I tighten the adjustment screws down and they bottom out before the disks even begin to expand. Since the disks initially sit inboard of bar, they provide no value. I was initially going to rate this three stars instead of four, but I went ahead and did the math about how much tolerance that added to the repeatability of cuts and found that it is so small it's pretty much not worth thinking about. My saw is a Skilsaw SPT99-12 so that is for mine, I can't speak for other saws and that is why I am only giving it four stars. If only the slot width adjusters worked and removed the tiny bit of slop in the miter slot, this would be a five star product, hands down. Okay, so that covered the reason for the loss of one star, some of the other things I really like are the design of how this is setup to provide positive angle stops that can be used for quick measurements, or you can not use that part and just tighten the hand screw and set the angle wherever you need it to be. The flip stop is handy too. It uses a rough surface to give itself traction from being bumped (since it uses plastic thumbscrews to tighten it in position), but I think that design is going to work well, the plastic will never seize up in the aluminum, and the plastic gripper material they use really seems to get a positive hold of the stop. The only thing that I am curious about is how that surface for the stopper will hold up over time. I have a feeling it is going to be just fine as it looks to be made of high density poly product. Other than that, I can just say again that this appears to be a well thought out product, that just missed the mark on one feature. UPDATE THAT CAUSED REVIEW TO CHANGE: After posting the initial review, I sent a message to the company asking them if there was a fix to the problem I had encountered. The issue was with the rigidity of the washers, what felt like the screws bottoming out on the threads was actually just the washer not wanting to expand. I got a response back the same day (from someone that had an out of office auto reply on) explaining what was likely the resolution to the problem and it was. All the screws need is a little lithium grease on the threads and the seating face between the expansion washer and the screw head. With that, the slop was able to be adjusted easily. So, to summarize, I was initially wrong that this was a four star product, it is a five star product and I have experience now with Incra's customer service and can say that was excellent too.

Great product! Inadequate setup instructions. See below.
I considered taking a star off of my review based on the flaws in the mechanism to tighten the miter bar into the miter track, but the rest of the engineering is just too good for that to be fair. I'm an engineer for the government. I see good and bad examples of engineering every day. This is truly a great tool. I'm actually shocked at how bad the design is for the tightening mechanism. It is a thick nylon washer that has a screw in the center that when driven in, should cause the nylon washer to expand and fill your miter track. The nylon washer is cut from the center screw hole to the outer diameter so it can expand. The problem is that the split is in the wrong place when it is shipped and nothing tells you to position it correctly. If you rotated the split outward of the miter bar so that it can expand more easily, this might work. As it ships, if you just try to tighten the screw, you will get very little expansion before you damage the way-too-small hex key. A better design would have used a much larger hex key. As it was, I drove a tiny nail in the nylon washer near the outside diameter so that the nail would make a portion of the washer expand to fill my miter slot. Then I cut off the rest of the nail and filed it down to be mostly flush. This worked, but was a dumb way to do it. Repositioning the slot in the nylon washer into the expansion area probably would have worked MUCH better than my method. However, my method did work and this did result in a tight fit that since then, has worked out amazingly well. The jaw-droppingly sloppy miter slot in my dewalt table saw, is now a precision cutting machine. Despite the initial frustration, I love this product. It has my highest recommendation.

A great product which could be refined further
I've been wanting to buy this Incra mitre fence since I bought my table saw a couple of years ago. The thing that has put me off purchasing it until now is that all Australian retailers charge a very significant premium (approx 80-100%) over what it can be purchased for in the US. Thanks to Amazon I was able to purchase this item at a very reasonable price and have it shipped to my address with delivery within 2 weeks. The first thing I noticed about the item is that both the extruded aluminium fence and protractor plate are very solid and it seems that it will be reliable for many years to come. Adjusting the GlideLOCK Miter Bar to fit snuggly in my table saw slot was relatively easy and has resulted in a sliding mechanism with no lateral movement at all which is great. Having said that I'm a little disappointed with some of the design decisions on this product. It seems a bit crazy that a hex key (Allen Key) is required to extend the fence. Making quick and fine adjustments is what this product is all about and requiring a tool to make adjustments is rather inconvenient. Surely it would be possible to design a tool-less adjustment mechanism for this common task. Another thing that is a bit baffling is the "shop stop" which kind of has two independent arms which can be folded out of the way (which is nice) but they are joined together meaning that you can't slide them independently. You can use the stop rods to have some degree of flexibility with the positioning, but simply having two separate stops would be easier and more flexible. The screws that hold the stop rods in are also a bit fiddly and tend to fall out on the bench when removing the stop rod. It would be easier to use if these were captive screws that didn't come out. Although not perfect, this is a product I can confidently recommended if you are looking to upgrade your mitre fence on your table saw to a more accurate one.

Great Product
I own a Ryobi Portable Table saw BTS20. Not the best, but not the worst either. As most lower cost table saws cross slide wobbled in the groove. In addition setting angles was iffy at best. The cast in indents at the several supplied presets were not exact and setting accurate angles between presets was not possible. I could not get accurate and repeatable cuts. OK for house construction but forget it for cabinet work. Bought the Incra 1000Se. Corrected problem nicely. Once adjusted for squareness and adjusted to fit the 'T' groove slot snug my cheap table saw will now make highly accurate and repeatable cuts. Any angle at 5 degs (+22.5) increments has indents and sets in at an accuracy beyond what I can measure. Has veneer scale for single degrees and tenths of a degree. Takes a couple of seconds to set these, but again at better accuracy than I can measure. The 'tang' that fits into the 'T' slot needed a bit of filing to fit but this was due to inaccuracies in the width of the table saws slot, not the Incra 1000se. Found the setup to be intuitive, instructions in pamphlet were easy to follow and not problem. I sent more time adjusting my table saw for squarness than setting up the cross slide. All in all Great Product. My table saw had a problem and the Incra 1000se solved it!

Great Product
Very pleased with the Incra 1000SE. Had great technical support from customer service. Initial miter cuts were not accurate. Incra's technical support helped me resolve the problems which turned out were not related to the miter gauge.

I can’t understand why some people hav given this miter gauge poor ratings.
I have used this mitre gauge to build a barn wood whine rack, the pattern is pretty precise and has repetitive cuts. My project turned out perfect, every cut and angle were on the mark.
