We have a Breville Coffee maker and spent a lot of time and money finding the “perfect” coffee bean to use with it. We considered things like taste, oiliness and price. Neither my husband or myself like strong coffee, so we tended to stay away from espresso beans. This coffee is just the right blend of mildness/flavor. Not too strong, not too weak. It also doesn’t leave an oily residue in our coffee grinder, which is so nice! The coffee is a little pricey but certainly won’t break the bank. And we prefer this coffee to most coffee-shop, so we save a ton of money by making our coffee at home! We love this coffee so much, we have it on subscription so we never have to go without.

This coffee is wonderful and is my preferred Italian coffee! Great taste and keeps so fresh in the metal cans.By buying it by the case , it is so much more affordable than from the grocery store!

ILLY coffee beans are all we grind. Great taste. Cheaper buying them on subscription. Size is the same as in store. Love the smell of opening the coffee. Everyone's taste buds are different. We love Illy coffee.

The coffee is not cheap but it tastes devine. This is coffee you drink everywhere in Europe! Now I can drink it in Panama.

I have a bunch of ILLY with vacuum packed espresso beans, they are not quite there with a locally roasted great bean, but they are close enough that they are dependable and something I drink regularly if I don't have a local bean.BREW suggestions.when you first brew, the taste is a bit off, I ended up using a coarser grind than I had expected, and brewing for 26 seconds at 197° f. those values being a testament to the vacuum packed bean behaving wildly different from a locally roasted fresher bean.Seems all the tins of Illy medium roast i have had, were roasted 2-4 months before they got to me, and is labeled as being good for another year or so. these beans were prepared for supermarket shelves. But this is not entirely a bad thing, because they are predictable, taste great, and always consistent, the taste change very little from the first day you brew it, to a couple months later. that is, if you really manage to stretch 250grams that far.I would say, if you are not into locally roasted beans, and want a reasonable and easy accessible good espresso bean, the ILLY medium roast beans are a great choice, predictable, great smooth taste. that said, $50 for 3 pounds of product, you can find a lot of very good freshly roasted beans at the same price point.The reason to choose the ILLY medium roast would be.1. if you love the taste, its a no-brainer.2. you don't futz with your brew to tweak daily, preferring a predictable every day bean that is going to be the same brew and taste next year as today.. the ILLY medium roast beans are for you. :-)Let cool a bit before tasting. 100% Arabica, medium roast, pressurized cans preserve freshness. Mild and balanced profile. Six cans is a significant supply. Premium price, but Illy delivers reliability. Good size and functionality.

Very near expiration date

...every single can didn't pop. (the signature Illy whoosh noise upon opening). I phoned Illy to ensure that it wasn't counterfeit and it's all legit, just not sealed. Customer service said that "it wasn't fresh" but the production date is stamped April of this year. I'm still drinking it because it tastes fine, but it's quite odd that all six cans aren't vacuum sealed.
