Complete novice at this kind of repair but worked out great. Don't have anything to compare it to as first time trying this but fit my guitar well and was easy to work with

🪕 The package contains one nut (50mm) and one saddle (80mm), both made from natural cattle bone. The nut measured exactly as stated at 50 × 12 × 6mm, while the saddle came in at 80mm long, around 9mm deep at its tallest point, and just 2.7mm thick. That makes the nut within expected tolerances, but the saddle is slightly thinner than the more common 3mm width, so it might not be a direct swap depending on your bridge slot. In my case, both parts will need to be sanded or shaped to fit. 🪕 The nut has string slots pre-cut, and while this might seem helpful, it’s not ideal if you need precise string height or if you’re working on a left-handed guitar. The string spacing is always custom to the guitar and the top of the nut will probably need re-profiling. The product is described as ambidextrous, but in practice, the pre-cut saddle intonation would be less suitable for left-handed instruments. For the nut, I’ll need to file the string slots to the correct depth, as they are too shallow for proper action out of the pack. 🪕 The saddle also has an intonation profile already cut into the top. If you’re adjusting the height by sanding down from the base, you could reshape the top and cut a more suitable profile yourself. That flexibility is useful, but again, this means it isn’t a ready-to-use part and some shaping is necessary. Bone does tend to give better tonal clarity than plastic, and this material seems suitably dense and low in porosity. The overall appearance is clean, with no visible defects, which I take as a good sign. 🪕 I wouldn’t expect these to be true drop-in replacements, but that’s typical for most bone nut and saddle sets. Some fitting work is nearly always required. From my experience so far, I think the quality is sound and the price is fair for what’s included. If you’re comfortable doing a bit of shaping, this set could be a worthwhile upgrade, especially if you’re after the tonal benefits of bone. ✔️

If you are looking for an upgrade for an affordable acoustic guitar then this bone nut and saddle set might be perfect replacement for a synthetic one. The nut comes pre-cut with a standard spacing for regular 12s. While it looks reasonably well cut it may need some additional cutting depending on string gauge and you guitar. If you are planning on modding a guitar its always worth having some nut files. The saddle comes pre-intonated and compensated with a reasonable amount of material to allow for some sanding to set string height. In theory it would probably drop in to most guitars but again you may need to perform some basic mods. The advantage of bone is it allows the strings to move freely in the nut slot and across the saddle. Allowing for more stable tuning. Some say that bone is better tonally but like a lot of things when it comes to guitar it's a matter of opinion. However there are functional benefits and this is a decent price.

Needed a longer one 80 mm. Perfect length but so thick it would not fit on any guitar and I have 8. I took it and sanded it on a flat belt sander on low. Was able to thin it to fit.

These ones are real bone material. I have received enough plastic ones trying to get actual bone material, ones advertised as bone came and what do you know, they are plastic. Not these ones. Real bone, will buy again for sure.
