The film Ex-Dominatrix a true story is the inspiring transformational true-life story feature documentary about an extraordinary woman and her shocking, surprising and secret life. The film won the Best Feature Film Award at the London Fetish Film Festival in 2019. The film has gained a cult following and the DVD are in limited quantities now. Review: An amazing true story, perfectly portrayed in this film! - I sat in the dark contemplating why this story made me cry so much and what I understood from it. Besides the obvious that I sometimes feel a prisoner in my own โcastleโ creating a world inside because I donโt want to deal with the one outside, I also realisedโฆTrauma is life changing. This film is a real and genuine story of self discovery and self transformation. We have many selves and non at all. We donโt have to be alone in life. There is always a way out, there is always another way of life, neither is good nor bad but whatโs right at that time. As hippy as this may sound from me, I see in this film that everyone is exactly where they are meant and deserve to be. All the bondage in the world can not restrain the soul but we can not deny our bodyโs desires. Balance, yoga in the mornings and latex in the evening ๐๐คโ My journey was in reverse, I started off with yoga, Buddhism, month long meditation retreats in India for years to eventually reach latexโฆ โlatexโ to โsimplyโ put it. I love this film! ๐ค๐๐ผ๐ค๐ผ๐ค Review: What a brilliant film, inspirational - What an inspiration Ira is. We thought this was a wonderful movie and really enjoyed it. Amazing spiritual journey. Well worth watching

Transitions
Perhaps a little too long, and perhaps too often slipping into documentary clichรฉ, this film is engrossing and likable enough however, and as a story of a powerful woman it achieves what it sets out to achieve. That is, to defeat the bad press, and the unfairness of the authorities and media which railed against her.

Great Documentary , Facinating Subject , Much Enjoyed
What an amazing insite into a world most of us can only dream of entering The director really gets into what makes both a top Dominatrix and her adoring Clients tick . It takes you through funny , sad , touching and worrying moments so skillfully and without nudity or gratuatous scenes The movie is honest to it's core but still delivers an entertaining 90 minutes which you'll remember for a long time

All You Need is Love
This tightly-constructed documentary uses Iraโs own narration to create a perspective which allows us to see her world from her own point of view, while enthusiastically objectifying its latex-clad subject. The cinematography is consistently sharp and inventive and includes a series of beautifully lit, erotically-charged scenes that would make Helmut Newton proud.

Insightful storytelling
A potentially touchy subject is handled very professionally in the hands of this first time documentary film maker, Darren Cavanagh....not only shows the trauma Ira went through, but also underlines the importance of telling this story.
