Really good, varied data-sets in the exercises demonstrating many different phenomena in each chapter. Really good teaching tool and homework material to accompany a phonology class.

I didn't know it would have so much writing in it. Like way more than I assumed from the description. But, I just needed it as study supplements, so it was not a huge deal.

I took a Masters level phonology class in Paris and had to quickly read up on the basics of phonology for the exams (I was a phonology novice beforehand). I compared Amazon reviews of many intro books (e.g., Phonology by Philip Carr Jean-Pierre Montreuil) and several written in French (e.g., Regles et Sons by François Dell), but this book seemed far more accessible than the others. It was a welcome introduction. I read 90% of it, skipping the last part which dealt with prosody because it wasn't a requirement for our course. I highly recommend this book. I would also suggest Carr's and Montreuil's book, especially to read simultaneously. Dell's book better explains the foundations from the Sound Patterns of English (SPE).

Great book, kindle edition's format is not the best though! The description also says 'password protected answer keys available' in more online resources... where can I find this answer key?! We have been told to do the exercises in our own time, but I have no way to check my answers.
