Review: Saved my cockatiel for laying more eggs! - My birb did a great job in laying her egg for the first time. We were both excited & freaked out at the same time, asking ourselves, now what?! I'm grateful for some FB group that recommended this brand. I paid for quality, size & almost close to actual color. I can easily rely on these in the future. This picture was taken when I took her to the vet for her post natal exam 😉
Review: So far so good - The good: the eggs are almost identical to my cockatiels. If someone could find a complaint I'd say they're really trying. As far as size, weight, appearance, and everything you'd see in an original cockatiel laid cockatiel egg, these are realistic. The only thing I can't say is whether or not it worked on tricking my girl yet. I just put them in. I'll come back and update. The eggs are pricey but I guess if you don't have an option you buy what is available. I also don't know what a fair price is for these and obviously I paid the price. Would I say they're worth the price? Not necessarily. I'd like to say these could easily be $5 cheaper and be just as good, but I won't discredit the fact that they do put a good quality forward and you get that with these. They're not cheap quality. There is a pamphlet of good information to accompany the eggs and I think overall the product is what a person needs when trying to stop overlaying or what have you.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I put eggs in nest to prevent from laying any eggs at all?**
A: NO. We are a rescue center for birds that works with the humane society.
1. Put your bird to bed early, by 5 or 6:00 p.m.
2. Keep your bird away from dark, enclosed spaces.
3. Keep your bird away from other birds to which she is bonded.
4. Discourage breeding behavior in your bird. Some birds will display breeding behaviors with their favorite person, such as vent-rubbing, tail lifting, or regurgitating food. Discourage these behaviors by putting your bird back in her cage for a “time out” whenever she displays them. Don’t pet your bird on her back or under her tail, as this can be sexually stimulating.
5.Remove your bird’s “love-toys”. Some single birds will display mating behaviors with objects in their environment, such as food cups, toys, perches, or mirrors.
6. Rearrange the cage interior and change the cage location. Your bird is more likely to lay eggs in a cage that hasn’t changed in a while. Putting your bird in a different cage and/or changing the cage location can help discourage laying.
7. Give your bird optimal nutrition and provide full spectrum light. Producing and laying eggs robs your bird of the vitamins, proteins, and calcium she needs to stay healthy. It is especially crucial during the breeding season that she is on a complete and balanced diet,
8. Avoid removing the eggs which your bird has already laid. Sometimes the easiest way to turn off the egg-laying cycle is to allow your bird to sit on her eggs. If your bird lays a few eggs and then sits on them, leave the eggs in the cage for 21 days or until she loses interest. If however she does not stop at 3 – 4 eggs and continues laying, this strategy may not work, and you should call your avian veterinarian for further suggestions.
9. Ask your veterinarian about hormone injections. In certain cases of excessive egg-laying, your veterinarian may recommend hormone injections in addition to the above environmental and dietary changes.
10.When in doubt, ask your avian veterinarian. If you have questions or concerns regarding your bird’s health.

**Q: Does this size and color work for regular size green cheek conures? What are the chances Mama bird will reject these or not even notice? Tx**
A: I have worked bird rescue with the Humane Society for the past 30 years. The best way to answer your question is; all humans are not alike, that also goes for our feathered friends. This product works fairly well with our sun conure and other birds. Try to buy the right size. Our conure wanted babies badly. Our avian vet informed us not to removed her fake eggs too soon, or she would continue to lay which could be a problem. Make sure that you place the right amount of eggs a clutch has under your hen while she is off the nest. Replace them as she lays them. She will become disinterested in them in her own time. As long as she is eating regular, great! Also keep watch on her stool and general health. Offer her time out with you but let her return to her eggs when she wants back. Hope this is a help.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Product!
*by A***A on December 15, 2021*

My little tiel would not stop laying eggs and I was very concerned for her health and loss of calcium. After reading heartbreaking stories of bird owners losing their little ones to chronic egg laying I wasted no time and I did my research and found this product that had great reviews. I was impressed at how similar the fake eggs were to the real eggs, both in size and color. She still lays an egg every now and then but not like she used to. Follow the instructions carefully and there are videos available on the internet for you to watch.
