There is some assembly of this lamp, but it is a standard electrical installation so a beginner level of difficulty. This also has a lot of cord, so it gives you different options on how high you can have this lamp hanging. You can even make the cord very short for a hallway if you wanted to. Materials are really nice, although my glass fixture just right around where the bulb goes to the lamp was a little rough unfinished, and had this strange little piece of metal or paper sticking out. I think this is left over from the manufacturing process and you wouldn't see it once you assemble it. Just an odd thing. As for the value for the price, I think it’s pricing a bit high right now, near the hundred dollar range. That’s a bit high for a product of this type and quality, as its competitors and peers in the same space and quality are closer to $60. Hopefully they will adjust the price, or offer sales, and or coupons to get better in that range. Although it is a good product. I am happy to have this though, and I’m debating either getting another one to put over a kitchen island, or they also sell a single unit that has two lamps hanging from it from the same company.
