God Speaks [Baba, Meher] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. God Speaks Review: A precise description of the journey of the soul - In construction, a best practice is to create "as-built" drawings and specifications that describe a structure precisely. They don't make for enjoyable reading, but they are extremely useful guides for the owner. That is a good way to approach Meter Baba's masterpiece, God Speaks. It is a rigorous philosophical work—in places dense and seemingly repetitive—yet it is saturated with meaning, optimism, and purpose. The author did not write from the point of view of a single tradition; rather, he composed a framework of the cosmos that borrows from Vedanta, Sufism, and Christian mysticism. Although much of it is drawn from these great mystical traditions, there is introductory material that I have not encountered elsewhere, especially about sanskaras, or impressions, that obscure a conscious being from its divine nature, giving rise to the ego or personality. Additionally, the description of the hierarchy of divine figures and advanced souls, supported by numerous charts, is fascinating in its detail and precision. If you have difficulty getting through the prose, the charts are informative and more accessible. The extensive footnotes by the Sufi master Ivy Duce are an enjoyable tour through the world of mysticism and esoteric knowledge. I think of it as an outline of the universal romance that is quite literally fleshed out in the long journey of the living soul. For me, it is an anchor, touchstone, and guide to authentic understanding that helps me recognize what unites the great mystical traditions. I wouldn’t expect an honest skeptic to believe everything in God Speaks, but if they come out with the notion that an unseen world is possible, then the work is done. Review: This unparalleled masterpiece explains existence, its purpose & goal — God Speaks. - With astonishing scope and detail Meher Baba authoritatively gifts us the story of creation-- the evolution of consciousness and its myriad forms and its involution Home from the imagined journey. This unique masterpiece apparently exists to pry open our perception and assumption and fill it with awe. The book covers the original urge-the whim-of consciousness and how it evolves through the different kingdoms of being, then involutes in human beings from gross awareness, to subtle and mental planes, (all fascinatingly outlined, as well as the Ten States of God) where eventually, eventually, rising through the epic game of reincarnation and illusory existence the soul finally realizes its eternal perfection. I was interested to find in Lord Meher, [original print edition p. 4599] the comprehensive biography of Meher Baba, this mention: "A well-known American author and scholar, W. Y. Evans-Wentz, was sent an advanced copy of God Speaks and asked to write a review. Wentz wrote an article, "The Uniqueness and Paramount Value of God Speaks," in which he stated: 'No other Teacher in our own time or in any known past time has so minutely analyzed consciousness as Meher Baba has in God Speaks ... Meher Baba's enlightening treatise adds much to the sum total of learning and contributes incalculably to the enrichment of mankind for, as the sages of Asia teach, the most intrinsically valuable of all riches, and greater than all mundane wealth, is Right Knowledge. . . . Nowhere is Meher Baba's wisdom more succinctly set forth than in his Conclusion, on page 176: "To understand the infinite, eternal Reality is NOT the Goal of individualized beings in the Illusion of Creation, because the Reality can never be understood; it is to be realized by conscious experience." *** And Meher Baba states . . . God is everywhere and does everything. God is within us and knows everything. God is without us and sees everything. God is beyond us and IS everything. God alone IS. *** GOD SPEAKS is not a primer, not an easy read, but if you dive in without fear of whether or not you'll understand it, amazement will pour into your mind and heart. Its charts, supplements, glossary, and elucidations using the verse of Hafiz, Rumi, Ib'n Arabi (all known to have reached the goal of perfection) as well as other poet-saints, are as fascinating as the text. It's meant to be read again, again and again. Dive for the pearl. Meher Baba speaks . . . Listen! A precise description of the journey of the soul

God Speaks by Meher Baba is not just a book—it is a transmission. In lucid yet deeply mystical prose, Meher Baba delivers a cosmic blueprint of the soul’s journey from unconscious divinity to awakened God-realization. It is a work of stunning spiritual architecture, mapping the evolution of consciousness through the intricate stages of reincarnation, karma, sanskaras, and the sublime experiences of the inner planes. This book is not to be read merely for intellectual enrichment—it is to be absorbed, pondered, and returned to again and again. While the concepts of reincarnation and the various planes of existence may seem vast or esoteric at first glance, Meher Baba’s teachings cut through confusion like sunlight through mist. However, to truly appreciate the depth and clarity of God Speaks, I highly encourage seekers to explore related texts from the rich tapestry of mystical traditions—Sufi, Vedantic, Buddhist, and modern metaphysical works. Books such as The Upanishads, Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda, The Tibetan Book of the Dead, Nan Umrigar's trilogy of books, and even the writings of Rudolf Steiner or Edgar Cayce can offer complementary lenses through which Meher Baba’s revelations shine even more brightly. Reading God Speaks is like standing before a majestic mountain—you see the peak, but to scale it, you must walk through many valleys and forests of understanding. Each new insight from other sacred texts becomes a stepping stone toward internalizing the vast cosmic vision Meher Baba so compassionately unveils. In short, this book is a spiritual compass—a map not just of creation, but of your very being. Anyone on a quest for truth, purpose, or self-realization will find in God Speaks a companion for life—and an invitation to explore the many other voices that echo the same eternal truths.
