I have a raspberry pi 4 8gb ram since 2021 which still works good but i did wanted raspberry pie 5 for awhile now cause i do like messing with them and when i saw they have a 16gb of ram version and it shown up for me i was pretty happy and wanted to see how it runs. First thing first it is best to use a 5.1volt 5amp power adaptor with it cause at first when using my pie 4 power adapter i was getting the low power message when loaded in to the os than i tried my steam deck 40watt and even my chrome book 65watt power adapter it was still getting it which i was really surprised about it still ran fine and you can run a command to bypass it but the usbs lost power at times, But than i ordered a 5.1volt 5amp 27watt adaptor days later for it and that did solved the low power message so it does seem like it requires a 5.1volt 5amp adaptor to run normal so do keep that in mind. Putting it together was simple ony thing i had trouble at first was getting the small power button in because it is a small button to line up with the board and the case but after i got that in i made a image on my 32gb sd card of raspberry pie os and insert it in and got to the desktop and did updates and it was running great, And 1080p youtube videos also played smooth and having the 16gb of ram really does help if you tend to have alot of browser tabs as i do. And it does run smoother than my pie 4 with 8gb of ram which the newer cpu and ram does help with that and it was also able to run smaller games i tried on it smoother so i do like the performance it has over the pie 4. I than tried ubuntu 24.04 on it with a 512gb ssd running from the usb port which worked great the speed was up to 400mbs so it is faster than running a sd card but i notice it was just not as smooth running as raspberry pie os videos just didn't start out smooth and just doing things on the desktop just was a bit laggy and as you can see by the geek bench 6 benchmarks in my photo which shows one for pie os and than ubuntu the pie os one is a good bit faster, I am still trying to figured it out but it's just a ubuntu issue with the pie 5 at the moment cause the pie os runs great and my pie 4 also runs the same on it so i probably will end up just installing that on the ssd and ony run that on it. Ony one con i do have to say is for the current price i would think it should've came with some other extras like at least a 5.1volt 5amp ac adapter sure it will work with a pie 4 adaptor as i found out at first if you have one or even other usb type c adaptors but you will get a power low message, Than maybe a small sd card and a hdmi cable would've been nice also cause people that is new to the raspberry pie world would like to have everything right from the start to get up and running when they get it. Other than that it is a nice kit and it's a nice upgrade from a pie 4 and i am happy with it and if it came with a ac adapter it would've been 5stars but it still gets a 4 stars from me cause it does run great hardware wise👍

Got the Raspberry Pi 5 (16GB) and it’s been great so far. Super fast, runs smooth even with multiple tasks. Perfect for my projects — no overheating issues either.
