Review: Average, a great entry point for new fans however not an Essential story. - JLA: New World Order: DC Essential Edition collects JLA #1-9 and JLA Secret Files #1. Written by Grant and artwork from Howard Porter. I should mention that I borrowed this comic from my local library and it has a plastic cover on it which will give a shine in images of the front and back covers. This is my introduction to the Justice League comic wise and I only have the faintest of memories watching snippets of the show when I was a kid, I had even completely forgotten about Martian Manhunter prior to reading this. I don't really want to give away much of the story, well stories in fact, as this collection doesn't focus on one story like other DC Essentials do, like Batman's Court of Owls saga, Green Arrow's War of the Clans, Green Lantern's Blackest Night saga and so on here we are presented with 3 or 4 stories across 10 issues, which in my opinion could be misleading as the back cover only covers the first story which is about the Hyperclan, a group who have traveled space for thousands of years and seek to save planets from things that ravaged their own homes but are their intentions are true as they let on? Some of the stories were interesting but personally I was hoping for a longer single story as these are short and some of the concepts could have been fleshed out more, so will these stories be memorable and make me come back? No not really, and this is one of the things that has frustrated me about the purpose of the DC Essential tag, in my opinion it gives the impression that anything tagged DC Essential are some of the best stories DC can provide but the purpose is actually meant to be great entry points for new fans, which frustrates me. As here, with JLA this is a great entry point but really lacks a gripping memorable story, then you have the instance of The Blackest Night saga which from my understanding is an awesome story, yet however isn't in my opinion isn't easily approachable for new fans. Overall, my thoughts on this collection are average, if you like the Justice League then you may be more interested that I am, but I was a new fan with high expectations from the Essential tag as I loved the Court of Owls saga and War of the Clans and highly recommend them but sadly was let down by what felt like stories that were meant to be read in single volumes instead of a larger collection. The artwork is the biggest thing that stands out to me in this collection, I also did like seeing these characters together but perhaps I personally would benefit more from looking for a longer story. As I said this is easily approachable to anyone, even if you don't know all of the characters you learn it pretty easily on so don't let that put you off if you are interested in this collection. Perhaps I'll look into Final Crisis or the Darkseid War that are under DC Essential. I'd say check out some more reviews if you're unsure. I'll be reading the highly regarded Kingdom Come next so hopefully this will give me the longer Justice League story I wanted. Hopefully you found this review helpful and happy reading.
Review: Heroically Scintillating Justice League Collection of Tales of Daring Deeds!!! - Grant Morrison scripted with panache in this riveting and thrilling graphic novel. It features Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman as members of the Justice League. Dazzling exploits of the mighty team of superheroes abound in impressive and colorful artwork. Great scenes show off the mighty battles with the dastardly super-criminals. The Hyperclan are formidable villains with intriguing plans to subjugate the planet into submission but the Justice League never give up.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ High stakes caped fun.

I tend to like the caped street level stuff mostly, but this end of the world threat story was bonkers fun for sure. The colorful art pops from the page like a fireworks display.
