THE GRAND 1000-Thread-Count 100% Cotton Queen Sheet Set, Ivory

I read all of the reviews and was a bit hesitant because of the smattering of negative reviews, but I took a chance when I saw somebody with a 19 inch high mattress write a positive review. I'm so glad that I saw that! These sheets are incredible! I suspect that the negative reviewers accidentally clicked on the wrong set to review, or they were accidentally shipped the wrong sheets, because these sheets have to be the best ones I've ever owned. I bought a very thick new mattress a year ago (18 inches high), and have tried 4 different brands of sheets that claimed to be "deep pocket" for huge mattresses. NONE have worked until these. I tried them on my bed before washing just in case I'd have to return them, and they FIT!!!! I think that an 18 or 19 inch mattresses would be the limit for them, but they FIT!!!! And I didn't miss my flannel sheets at all last night. These were extremely soft and cozy and very "rich" feeling even in my cold house. Of course I use a down comforter on top, so warmth isn't an issue, but I was worried that I would miss that warm fuzzy feeling of my flannel sheets next to my skin. I don't. These are thick and full-bodied, but wonderfully soft and cozy. Not stiff at all. I highly recommend them. By the reviews, I was expecting the flat sheet to be tiny. It is plenty big. I can't tuck them in on the sides, but there is enough material to drape down 18 inches on both sides to cover my over-sized mattress. If your mattress is less than 18 inches (and the vast majority are!) then these sheets will tuck in. EDIT on Sept. 17, 2008: I still love the quality of these sheets, but over time they have shrunk and they don't stay on my 18 inch mattress. I would only recommend these for a slightly shorter mattress (maybe 15 inch at the most). So I'm looking for the same feel and comfort, but will need to replace them with even deeper pockets for the fitted sheet.

I have purchased 2 of these sets. The first set has the Melrose Collection tag & a made in China tag on the flat sheet, fitted sheet & pillow cases purchased this set directly from Amazon as the seller. The second set purchased from a private seller that sells on Amazon, these sheets are not the same as the first. They don't have Melrose Collection posted any where on them, not on the packaging or sheets. The tag on the sheet says made in china, which is also different than the first set. The seams are not the same, real noticable on the pillowcases & flat sheet. Color is the same ivory. Sheets don't feel the same either, feel a bit lighter. I absolutely loved the first set purchased from Amazon with the Melrose Collection tag. They have been washed & dried several times over the years & hold up well, no shrinkage I wash on warm, rinse on cold, never use bleach because of the discoloration warning from other buyers. They are perfect for all seasons, we live in central upstate NY, are wonderful for those hot summer nights where you just need a sheet. Nice, cozy & comfortable, I love the feel against your skin, mmm....don't want to get out of them in the morning is the only problem. However, in the winter months I've heard flannel or fleece are wonderful, currently we have an electric mattress pad, I've heard that if you use the fleece sheets you no longer would need the electric mattress pad but don't actually know that for a fact, just hear say. These new ones I washed the same way, no shrinkage or discoloration, but there is a couple pulls noticable on the pillowcase. Overall satisfied so far with my second set, question if they are really from the Melrose Collection or are just "Grand 1000 Thread Count" made in China being sold under the Melrose Collection name. They do fit oversized mattresses, the pillowcases are king, the price is right & they are as comfortable as my first set, just material feels a bit lighter. Hope the second set of sheets last & hold up as nice as the first ones. Rated 4 stars due to the difference in both sets of sheets being so noticeable & inconsistent.

I received this sheet set right on time....I took it out of the bag, and it felt nice and soft....I usually wash my new sheets before putting them on the bed, so I washed these sheets....and they came out of the washer like cardboard! Awful! I thought that if I put them in the dryer with a fabric softening sheet (like Downy) they would dry soft....but they came out all wadded up and like stiff paper.....I still thought that if I slept on them, they would soften....but nope....they were rough, and stiff even to lay on.... I would NEVER buy these sheets again!

I bought this sheet set in 2014 and while the top sheet was a bit narrower than I expected, I was satisfied because the sheets were very thick and yet soft. About nine months ago- so that two years after purchase- the fitted sheet developed a tear, which then turned into a rip. I contacted the seller and asked if they would replace the fitted sheet for free. They stated "Unfortunately our sheets are only available in sets and due to the length of time I won't be able to replace them but I can get you a discount off of an old pair. I do apologize for any inconvenience." I was confused by the words "a discount off of an old pair", and asked what they meant by this. Their reply was "I am sorry that was a typo. I meant to say we can get you 35% off a new pair. Again, I apologize for my mistake. Thank you, Kyle." I was very disappointed in this, given the high price of this sheet set. I did not need to replace the fitted sheet, which is still in great condition. Won't be ordering from this company again.
