Subject to it's own Pitchfork documentary, listed in numerous prestigious Best Albums of the 90s lists, and destined to be re-discovered by continuous generations, THE LONESOME CROWDED WEST stands as the defacto Northwest indie-rock record. Originally released in 1997, it not only helped shape the sound that came to be associated with the American Pacific Northwest, but across these sprawling, wide-open 15 songs, Modest House helped redefine what was possible for guitar music. As such, THE LONESOME CROWDED WEST has often been mimicked, but it's awesome open-hearted existentialism and manic ambition has rarely been matched. A modern classic that demands reappraisal. Review: How did I miss this in 1997? - A truly amazing piece of work that I wish I had discovered in 1997. "The Lonesome Crowded West" is some of Modest Mouse's finest work, and perhaps one of the top albums of the 90's. From the very first line of "Teeth like God's Shoeshine," you know this is going to be an interesting record. And interesting is a major understatement. Singer Isaac Brock comes in spitting fire, teetering on the edge of sanity as he sing/yells his way through the despair and the search for meaning in life. Brock, along with bassist Eric Juby , drummer Jeremiah Green and a handful of guest musicians deliver a powerful, multi-layered, intricate collection of songs, each unique in their own right, and never boring. Especially check out the hypnotic "Heart Cooks Brain," "Convenient Parking and "Doin' the Cockroach." For new listeners, it may be a little tough to digest on the first listen. After a couple spins, this album will grab hold of you and be a staple in your musical diet for a long time to come. Review: Great value - Modest Mouse, enough said

Awesome vinyl repressing
Wow, just wow. I have had some bad luck with new pressings admit this one is great everywhere it counts. No surface noise in the quietest of passages and a lush, nuanced sound. I can believe it's their second album by the overall mix/mastering sound. I can barely believe it to be their second album by just how... considered every noise in every track is. I guess I just really am a Modest Mouse fan and this vinyl repressing didn't disappoint. I can't take a star off for very mildly warped discs that a mid weight stabilizer completely flattens.

Wow - how did I miss this way back when
Last year a friend of mine told me to check out some Modest Mouse. I got one of their newer albums, and it really didn't connect much with me. A couple of weeks ago I heard Cowboy Dan on the radio, and looked it up. I was shocked to find out it was Modest Mouse - sounded so fresh and new, but actually is their older work. I wish I could go back 13 years and tell myself to pick up this album. But better late than never. My favorite tracks include: 7. Cowboy Dan 8. Trailer Trash 14. Bankrupt on Selling 15. Styrofoam Boots/It's All Nice on Ice, Alright The other stuff is good too, but those are the top four on the album.

Modest Mouse's Best album
So through high school i was a huge Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Doors, and Dylan fan. towards the end of high school I started to realize they wont be coming out with anything new and I have all their albums, so i decided to venture to something else and something new one band came across but i could not remember the name they had a song featured on a target commercial so i looked it up it was modest mouse so i thought i will give them a try this was the first album i bought. At first i was a bit disappointed but soon i grew to love this album. They are heavy at times and light at other times i love it. my favorite song would have to be Truckers Atlas its long but good the jams are not hendrix worthy but the bulk of the music is in my opinion.

Woah, dude
As far as Modest Mouse goes this is one of their best albums in my opinion. Vinyl plays very well, doesn't skip or sound off in anyway. I would recommend to this my mother, your mother, your mother's mother, and anyone that has ever wanted to know what it feels like to be hugged by pure audio velvet. 10/10 would smash

Physical CD is non-standard size
Love the CD, love the band. The disc case is taller than standard jewel cases, so if clearance is tight in your CD rack, this one will not fit properly.

Very pleased with the quality of the audio. Both records and sleeves arrived in perfect condition and included a download code which is always a nice touch. My personal favourite Modest Mouse record.

It is great to finally be able to have, after all these years, this one. Being a big MM fan for about 20 years, it is great. I love it.

Anspieltipps: Heart Cooks Brain, Doin' The Cockroach, Cowboy Dan, Trailer Trash, Out Of Gas, Polar Opposites, Bankrupt On Selling.
