But this scoop cuts thru hard ice cream as good as one can and you can apply a lot of pressure to do so without fear of breaking. The silicon grip aids in comfort. I have had more scoops than I care to admit. But after owning one of these for several years I decided it was time to add another to my collection, but only because I needed a clean one in the drawer if the other was dirty. While the design is fun, this scoop delivers on the function.

My husband really likes the Boston Warehouse line of animal kitchen gadgets (I guess he's a fan of functional animals?), so this was a gift. We're really happy with it so far. **Q: Is this item good for peeling monkeys or just potatoes?**
A: I have not peeled any monkeys yet; monkeys are not in season here, so I will have to wait til then.  I am sure it will work fine, though.

**Q: how well does it peel birds?**
A: If feathers don’t bother you ,pretty damn well!

**Q: Can the peeler be used by left-handed people?**
A: Although I am right-handed, I believe it could, just as easily, be used by lefties. I love this peeler!  I bought it because it is cute, but it is the best peeler I've ever had. The bird body makes it ergonomic.  Try it!

This is the best ice cream scoop I have ever used. I like it so much that I ordered three more for my grown children. The scoop looks awesome, feels good in your hand, and cuts through "normal hardened" ice cream with ease. "Normal hardened" means not hard as a brick, but not so soft that you think your freezer is not working properly. It's fun eating ice cream any time and now it's fun scooping it too!
