3rd update: 14 months after purchase. I had an accident with this scooter and the throttle broke. I contacted the manufacturer to see if I could get a replacement and they offered to send me both the throttle and the broke. Phone holder, free of charge. Great customer service! 2nd update 4 months after purchase: I have to revise my review of this company once again. They are TOP in customer satisfaction, response, problem solving and inquiries. The scooter rides great, looks great and has a long battery life. Maybe in future they will reconsider the closure hook and use a better design there. They seem to be really focussed on their product and their customers so I believe they will continue improving over time. UPDATE: The company "HiBoy" has been very open and eager to resolve our issues (below) and very supportive. For that reason I am happy to change my overall rating to 4 Stars (****) increased from 3. This is a lovely scooter. Stylish, easy to use, solid tires (no flats!), disk brake, great lights, fast. However there are two extremely important design drawbacks: UPDATE: Point 1 below is more of a dumb design but Point 2 below remains an important drawback. 1. The body of the scooter does not have any place where a lock can be passed through to securely lock the scooter outside if necessary. UPDATE: After some research apparently it is possible to lock the scooter around the body just behind the front wheel (on the angled part). Provided that the lock is tight enough to the body that the scooter body or stem/headset can't be passed through the lock and removed, it is pretty secure. We have not tried this yet. and….relating to the above and to the idea that there is no way to lock it up outside…. 2. When we fold the scooter and clip the top to the rear fender, the “clip” in fact is an open hook which catches a spring action loop built into the rear fender. As long as you keep tension on that hook (ie by holding the scooter from that portion), the loop stays in the hook. As soon as the stem of the scooter relaxes toward the body, the hook falls out of the loop and the scooter opens up (“flops” open). Given that the scooter is about 30lbs, it is reasonable that a normal person would occasionally “rest” the folded scooter while carrying it. But if s/he does, the scooter will awkwardly fall open and potentially cause damage or physical injury. So where we ourselves really wanted to have a scooter that folded up for ease of transportation, it’s not well designed for that at all. I anticipate our finding another way of securing the fold, perhaps by installing a rock-climbing clip somehow, so that the stem can be held securely attached to the body when folded. UPDATE: We did find a way to secure the fold. Our "solution" is not very functional and it's ugly as well. We are going to try locking as updated in Point 1 above, which will hopefully solve the problem.

The Hiboy S2 is an excellent scooter that provides top tier bang for your buck - I've been able to save a ton of money and time commuting with it, especially with current gas prices. The scooter is well balanced and both acceleration and braking are consistent, effective, and doesn't feel inadequate. The app is simple but functional with no bugs that I could see. More importantly, Hiboy's customer service is above and beyond any other that I've seen. Earlier this year, I was involved in an incident (not my fault) which damaged the scooter significantly. I thought the scooter was done for, but Nancy at the Hiboy support team kindly took my information request, sent it to their technical team, and figured out what parts needed replacing and sent them to me for free! They also sent me instructions on how to repair the scooter, and with that key support, I'm now back up and running on my Hiboy S2. Excellent company, excellent product, excellent customer support. My next scooter will be a Hiboy.

All the positive reviews here helped sway us to buy the S2 when it was an Amazon deal of the day. Teenage son had been saving for months to buy a scooter was initially very happy with this. However, in retrospect we *really* wish we had paid the extra $30 for the extended 2-year warranty. The initial wheel rattle that we ignored got progressively louder, but by the time we wondered whether to return the scooter, the 1-month return window had closed. After dozens of interactions with the Amazon Marketplace seller (sharing videos with the rattle, etc), they mailed us a new wheel under the manufacturer’s limited warranty. However, we had no easy way to install it. No local bike or scooter repair shop wanted the liability (because it is an off-brand made in China). So in the process of replacing that (trying to follow a video link that Hiboy sent us), the back brake stopped working, but that is arguably our fault, so we have no recourse. And now the newest issue is that the throttle got stuck in the on position, leading to injuries. But even if we can repair that, I don’t trust this to be safe any more. In addition, the front tire wore out unexpectedly fast (just riding a paved bike trail about 15 minutes about twice a week), but replacing that is $80. In summary, I hardly ever leave reviews on Amazon, but felt compelled to warn others to think twice (don’t just look at initial reviews) and if you do decide to get this, please purchase the extended warranty because we definitely feel like we are stuck with a lemon and profoundly regret buying this scooter. Teenager who saved for months to buy this is especially bitter and sad about our mistake.

The scooter is pretty good. Sturdy, fast (as it can reach the described speed) and I mean. It’s just really good. Why I’m giving it 4 stars? Simply because the battery runs a little bit fast. Turns out the battery lasts enough to reach the maximum distance described on the product description as long as you drive it 12mph or under which is not that fast and it’s like a fine print of the product. Otherwise the battery will last for 6 or 7 miles of total driving at its maximum speed. On the other hand, it can take you everywhere. I’ve drove this thing to work and without any issue. I work 11 miles away from home so we are not talking about rookie numbers, the cruise control mode it’s a superb nice feature and can help you saving battery and enjoying the ride. Be careful with this, the solid tires can be a plus and also a con, because every small bump or hole on the road it’s gonna feel like a punch on your hands and a modest hole can take you down since the wheels can’t absorb those hits. On the other hand you don’t have to worry about flat tires at all. Overall, I would say if it meets your expectations, just buy it. It’s worth the money.

My son has been riding his Hiboy S2 for a while now. It’s been totally solid and just a reliable scooter. Recently, a piece of the handbrake ended up breaking. Honestly, I braced myself for a headache, but their customer service was awesome. I just emailed them a quick video of what was going on, and their engineers knew exactly what the issue was right away. There was zero annoying back-and-forth. They just shipped out a replacement part immediately. I swapped it out and it’s back to 100%. Look, things break eventually and everything needs maintenance, but it’s pretty rare to find a company that stands behind their stuff like this without making you jump through hoops. Really impressed. Highly recommend them.

Overview: I really love this scooter, like genuinely. I love it so much that I bought a second one after my first S2 was stolen. I have bought 3 scooters through Hiboy, the first being my NEX scooter which was a discontinued model, so when I damaged that one (my fault 100%) I decided to move to another great Hiboy scooter, the S2. I did this because I had wonderful experiences with their kind, clear and attentive customer service representatives (via email), so I wanted to stay with the company for sure. For this reason and quality of product, I think Hiboy is the best of the up and coming eScooter companies. Anyway, this is a stellar scooter. It's not extremely pricey like the Segway Ninebots or as cheap and slow as other brands like Gotrax and Hover. In fact, having used the various rentable Bird and Lime scooters a lot before this purchase I think I like the feel of the S2 more. So it's an affordable elevated quality scooter. I attached a pretty detailed video of a general overview of the scooter, and what I like, so definitely watch that. (In the video I referenced putting up a 2nd video to show how it folded and unfolded, but turns out I can't upload 2 videos. Just know that folding and unfolding is totally easy. I said it is tight, and it is, but I'd rather the folding mechanism be a little tight as it is on mine, than loose). Also, another broad overview aside I didn't mention in the video is that I like that for the charger, there’s a little light that goes from red to green when it's charged, so you don't overcharge it. If you have issues: When you open the manual it details the quick start info (how to put it together which consists of a few screws and an electric plug in) and in big letters it says if you have any problems please contact the company. Definitely do, like I said they have great customer service and are very willing to send you parts and even videos with how to replace parts/adjust the scooter (at least they did with my NEX scooter, can't imagine that has changed). My type of use: My commute is only about 2 flat miles round trip most days of the week, so I cannot speak to long distance commutes and how it would hold up. But as I said in my video it definitely reaches 18-19 mph, so if that's accurate to advertisement I see no reason why the distance it can reach isn’t close. In fact, since I bought it, I haven't had to charge it yet from the initial charge (have not used it that constantly though to be honest!). It has a nice bit of oomf from stop and doesn't really need any kicking to get it going (again I'm on flat roads). It's perfect if you're a college student on a big campus, live off campus (my use), or other urban & local roads commutes. Its size and speed makes it perfect for getting to places that aren't exactly around the corner, so you need to use a bit of road to get where you're going. Some of this review is merging my experience with my old S2 and this brand new one which I mentioned in my video seems to be an upgraded model. Regardless, I loved both. So yeah. The Hiboy S2. I’ve got 3 Hiboy s2 scooters! It has long life and they have best warranty amongst other brands. The best of all is their customer service and they deserve 5 star rating! Rep named Mina helped me out and sent 5 parts including replacement battery to get the issue fixed.

It goes really fast, has great lights and lots of features. The solid tires make the ride a bit bumpy on rough ground. You get rattled a bit and your teeth chatter. The brakes are a bit too good, they are very sensitive and slam on the anchor as soon as you touch them. It has two types of break and both are very strong and responsive. It’s relatively light weight compared to other scooters I’ve ridden. The App is really good (although you don’t need it at all). I often use the cruise control feature. It has sports mode which is really fast. We get really good distance and battery life. It recharges in a few hours. Great value and has given us hours and hours of fun.

Hiboy scooter is well-built and reliable. Comfortable ride with responsive brakes and solid performance. Easy to fold and carry. Really happy with this purchase!
