" The hour was late and Mr Bear was tired. But he could not sleep - however he tried and wherever he tried. Snore, snore went Mrs Bear. Tick-tock, tick-tock went the clock. Would he never get to sleep? The familiar noises, repetition and beautiful illustrations make Jill Murphy's delightful Peace at Last an all-time favourite bedtime story with children and adults everywhere. This is a beautiful refreshed edition to coincide with the 35th anniversary of Whatever Next! " Review: Easily my favorite children's book ever - Easily my favorite children's book ever, from when it was read to me as a young child through reading it to my own children. The artwork is warm and cozy with small details so the pictures never get boring even after multiple reads. The sound effects are wonderful for reading aloud. Mr. Bear's tired but loving smile at Baby Bear and Mrs. Bear on the last page let us know that everything is just fine. I agree that this is a great pick for very young children just getting into books with actual storylines. There is the right amount of repetition and predictability that young children like, with a funny surprise ending to appeal to that stage of their development. I can recite this book by heart, I've read it so many times, and I give it as a gift for basically every new baby in my life. A wonderful classic. Review: Wonderful book - My whole family loves this book. Cute story and my son (2) is always engaged when reading.

CLASSIC STORYTIME READ ALOUD
A great read aloud for Storytime, where children can join in with Mr. Bear, as he tries to find a place to sleep. We are on the 3rd generation of children loving this story. A classic!

unborn son because it was her favorite book. She still has her original one
Gave it to my daughter for her, as yet, unborn son because it was her favorite book. She still has her original one. She was so excited. Now to see what our grandson thinks!!!!

A simple story and lovely detailed illustrations
My children and UK grandchildren loved the simple, repetitive story line that they could join in with even before they could read, and also the lovely illustrations with the details that they could pick out. Hopefully my new US grandchild will have a similar experience

Do You Want to Be My Friend? (Eric Carle) - 1,2,3 to the Zoo (Eric Carle) - Today is Monday (Eric Carle) - The Pig in the Pond (Martin Waddell) - Ten in the Bed (Penny Dale) - Mouse Paint (Ellen Stoll Walsh) - Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (Bill Martin, Eric Carle) - The Very Busy Spider: Miniature Edition (Eric Carle)
